ACTIVITY TITLE: Essay #7
REALIZATION, INSIGHT AND LEARNINGS
How does good decision making and conflict resolution process aid in group and individual
development?
Student’s Answer:

Good decision making and conflict resolution process results in effective output of the group and
developed individuals. Decision making techniques such as brainstorming, Interacting Group, and nominal
group would develop a person to think analytically, critically, and creatively. On the group spectrum,
decision making of the group defines the project’s topic, scope, limitations, and goals. Therefore,
individually, and collectively must have an effective decision making.

Everyone should contribute to the decision making of the group. Individually, members must apply
these skills to have an effective decision making. First, every member should know the agreed decision of
the group about the topic of the project. After recognizing the decision, gathering information would help
widen their knowledge about their decided topic and might assess its conflicts. Next is identifying
alternatives by weighing the evidence presented in their research. The 5th and 6th are about choosing the
best alternative and starting the execution of the project. The last step is reviewing the decision to check if
the objective of the project was achieved. Everyone in the group must be involved in group decisions. The
conflict resolution can be fixed using different styles which are win-lode style, yield-lose style, Lose-leave
style, compromise style, and integrative style.

In a nutshell, a group or an Individual that has good decision making negotiates and analyzes the
conflict resolution through the way they understand the nature of the conflict, acknowledge everyone’s
emotions, examines their interaction, and always clarifies their intentions.
