INTRODUCTION AND IT’S BACKGROUND

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The junkshop industry is a simple yet profitable one. Many people might be hesitant
to enter the Philippines because of its "scrappy" nature because it involves rejects and filthy or
stinky, soiled materials (Business Diary PH,  2018). These days, the junkshop industry is
particularly relevant when promoting environmental awareness and effective waste management.
Because the traded goods are soiled and unclean, many people give a junkshop and scrap
business less thought than it deserves. However, from a different perspective, it is a profitable
enterprise that makes a lot of money for both junk store owners and waste collectors.
A junk shop is a sort of retail establishment, similar to a thrift store, that specializes in
selling unwanted items at a discount. V-Quad company is a junk shop business that sells
unwanted items including trash, magazines, cans, discarded paper, and broken equipment. It is
known as a business that offers secondhand or used items. A poor antique shop could resemble a
junk shop. There's a saying that goes, "There's money in junks," and it's true. Many people have
a lot of junk, including unused appliances, empty bottles, cans, used newspapers and magazines,
and many other items. 

A. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
A business that offers secondhand or used items is known as a junk shop. V-Quad
Company began as a tiny and simple junk shop, and over the past few years, it has grown so
much. In order to make money, V-Quad Company hires someone to collect their junk and sell it
to other junk shops. These shops can be found in a wide range of locations from little roadside
stands to large warehouses. They have locations in Quezon, Pampanga, and Cavite. Typically,
they offer a variety of products for sale, such as furniture, clothes, appliances, electrical goods,
and other stuff.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS
2.1 NATURE OF THE BUSINESS
When it comes to rubbish, we are well aware of our issues. Even the government has
implemented recycling and trash management regulations. Both garbage collectors and junkshop
owners can profit from this business. One of the objectives of this business is to recycle
materials.
The first thing they do when they have a customer is they will greet and assist the walk-
in customer/retailer with recyclable materials. Second, the assistant will evaluate the products
and, if necessary, arrange them. He will be in charge of loading the items into the weighing scale
and the actual weighing will be done by the OIC. Third, he will fill up a "weigh slip," which will
include the sort of item and its accompanying weight, as well as his signature and the slip must
be submitted to the Cashier by the OIC. Next, the weighted objects must then be transferred to
the appropriate stock area by the assistant and the Cashier is responsible for calculating the total
amount owed to the customer. As proof of payment, the consumer must personally receive the
amount and sign the slip of paper. Lastly, all Weigh Slips must be filed daily by the cashier.

2.2 NAME OF THE BUSINESS

Quantum company is a buy-and-sell business that offers a lot of materials including
aluminum, stainless, and brass. Quantum comes from Latin, meaning "an amount" or "how
much?" If something is quantifiable, then it can be measured. Just like in the junk shop sector,
the quantity of junk you have determines how much money you will make.

The interviewee said that “Malawak kasi yung lupang nabili ng amo ko at malayo ng
gaano sa mga bahay bahay”. She stated that their boss chose Dalandanan as their location in their
firm since it is large and broad in terms of land space and is far from the dwellings. It is a good
location for their business since sharp metals and things in a junk business might be dangerous if
placed in a crowded area. The location that their boss chose is not prone to flooding, is legally
zoned, and is easily accessible to people who will supply their inventory.
