Contemporary Arts

When you were younger, probably you think that arts is just a drawing, or just the bringing of crayons,
art papers and all those art materials. But as you grow older, you realized that a ribbon in your hair or the tying
of your shoelace and up to how you dress, talk and walk could also be an expression of arts.

It is so nice to know that your knowledge about arts has grown as you grow. Just like you, arts also
developed, evolved and flourished as time went by. Different characteristics and features are also there as arts
grow in different movements, and behold the contemporary arts.

Contemporary art is the art of today, produced by artists who are living in our time. It provides
opportunities to reflect on society and the issues that are important to us and the world.

In this module, you are going to define the various contemporary arts in the Philippines from music,
dance, theater, down to visual arts, literature, Film and Broadcast, etc. You will also be assigned to research at
least one of the various contemporary art forms.
