PROCESS BOOK

This project's goal is to comprehend and
examine the classic clothing item known as
the CHOGHA and correlate it to ANIME
culture in terms of its design and form as
fashionable yet practical clothing.
 ACKNOWLEDGMENT
This semester has been a great learning experience for me
because I've learned stuff I didn't know before. I got the
chance to complete tasks that worried me, which improved
my self-awareness and confidence. It has also been an
incredible pleasure to have the chance to study at Pearl
Academy, a prestigious and long-standing institution, and
with the best facilitators like Mr. Sumit K. Priyadarshi.

I am grateful that I had the opportunity to demonstrate my

research and analytical abilities through this assignment. I
am also happy that I was able to learn so much about my
own culture and heritage. To top it all off, I was glad that
we were asked to combine two cultures that may not have
much in common.
For me, completing this assignment has been a fascinating
learning experience where I've picked up new information
about various cultures in addition to my own.

Additionally, I want to express my sincere gratitude to my

mentor Mr. Sumit K. Priyadarshi for constantly encouraging
and advising me. Above all, I want to express how
appreciative I am for all the different perspectives and
insights he has given me as we have worked together to
finish this project.
INSPIRATION NOTE
When I first encountered this assignment I was a bit overwhelmed
quite frankly and this is because of my lack of exposure to history.
At first, I used to think that I just didn’t like history in general, but
that changed soon after I had started researching the iconic
Chogha and that enabled me to tap into the side of me which
found history interesting.

Upon my research of Chogha, I realized that a lot of similar

garments are worn by people from colder regions, especially
Kashmir. Kashmir also happens to be the place where I hail from
and almost instantaneously I could see myself having a deeper
personal connection with whatever I was researching, and lastly, it
just made the whole effort behind my research seem more
relevant.

I see Vivienne Westwood as an inspiration in the world of fashion.

My inspiration took her inspiration from Nana Manga for making
her collection. This is the reason why I wanted to take Nana Manga
as my muse and Anime as my second culture because she is an
integral part of the culture. It’s also a foreign culture for me and I
would like to explore it furthermore because it has always really
fascinated me but I’ve never been into Anime cartoons, so this
assignment and fashion, in general, has been an amazing gateway
for me to engage myself in Anime.
