"Shoes"

FADE IN.

EXT. SANTA MONICA - NIGHT

A street illuminated by lamp posts. Muffled, BASSY MUSIC is
coming from the only house with lights on.
Against a small brick wall leans SAMANTHA, a twenty-one year-
old girl with blonde hair, she wears blue high heels, a blue
dress and carries a small handbag. Her face is lit up by the
screen of her smartphone.

A car approaches, as it slowly pulls up beside Samantha, she

puts her phone away. The passenger side window is rolled
down, the car radio plays music.
DRIVER (O.S.)
Uber for Samantha?
SAMANTHA
That's me.
Samantha opens the door. The dome lights reveal ALEXIS,
twenty-two years old, a handsome guy with a charming smile.
She gets in. Alexis checks her out and takes prolonged look
at her shoes.
ALEXIS
(to himself)
Seems like today's my lucky day.
SAMANTHA
Sorry?
ALEXIS
Oh nothing... I'm Alexis by the
way.
SAMANTHA
Samantha, but you can call me Sam.
ALEXIS
Alright Sam, where to?
SAMANTHA
1699 Berkely Street.
The car is a manual, Alexis puts it in first gear and drives
off.
SAMANTHA (CONT'D)
You like driving manual?
2.

ALEXIS
Yeah, I think it's more fun.
SAMANTHA
How is that fun?
Alexis chuckles.
ALEXIS
Well, if your a car guy or girl
it's just different.
SAMANTHA
That's gotta be a nightmare in
traffic, tough?
ALEXIS
Well, at night it's not that bad.
SAMANTHA
Not the first thing that would come
to my mind thinking about fun
activities at night.
ALEXIS
Definitely top three for me.
Alexis shows Samantha a flash of his smile again. She stares
at him and bites her lips.
She readjusts her dress and with her foot hits something in
the foot-well of the car.

SAMANTHA
Is that a high heel? Are you a drag
queen or something.
ALEXIS
Oh no, no. I was picking up these
girls earlier at a McDonalds and
they were drunk as fuck and one of
them had ketchup all over her. She
must have lost it while getting out
the car and didn't notice.
SAMANTHA
Oh, I was gonna ask what that stain
was on there.
(beat)
And now you're keeping it?
ALEXIS
I am actually trying to find the
perfect fit for it.
3.

SAMANTHA
Oh, like in Cinderella?
ALEXIS
Yeah, somewhat like that.
SAMANTHA
And have you found your princess
yet? Driving around girls the whole
time?
ALEXIS
Sadly no, they are mostly pretty
drunk and not as great to talk to.
Alexis stops the car at a red light. Samantha and Alexis look
each other deep in the eyes, while the radio host reads the
news, almost inaudible.
RADIO HOST (O.S.)
And now for the news. The police
have found the corpse of a young
woman that apparently was murdered
after being pic-
Alexis changes the station while still staring at Samantha.
They share a passionate kiss until a driver behind them
HONKS. The traffic light is green again.
SAMANTHA
You know what? I changed my mind.
ALEXIS
About what?
SAMANTHA
I don't wanna go home yet.
ALEXIS
Where do you wanna go instead?
SAMANTHA
Wherever you want.
CUT TO:

EXT. CAR PARK - CONTINUOUS

A car park, hidden behind shrubbery with a great view of the
Pacific. Alexis and Samantha pull up. Samantha gets out and
walks towards a wooden railing. Alexis gets out and walks
around the back of the car.
4.

SAMANTHA
It's beautiful.
You can hear the distinct sound of a TRUNK CLOSING, almost
drowned out by CRASHING WAVES.
ALEXIS (O.S.)
This is one of my favorite spots to
visit.
(beat)
Can I put my arm around you?
SAMANTHA
Sure.
Alexis forcefully plunges a knife into her skin. He presses
his hand on her mouth in order to suppress her SCREAMS. He
stabs her multiple times.
Samantha stops screaming and all the tension in her body is
gone, a puddle of blood has formed beneath her. Alexis lets
her body drop to the ground, kneels down and takes off her
left high heel.
He walks to his car and puts Samantha's shoe right beside the
other one located in the foot-well. Together, they form a
pair.
CUT TO BLACK.
