Root Causes Sip
Root cause analysis (RCA) is the process of discovering the root causes of problems in order to
identify appropriate solutions. RCA assumes that it is much more effective to systematically
prevent and solve for underlying issues rather than just treating ad hoc symptoms and putting
out fires. This analysis shall be used in the following items which considered barriers in the
effective intensification of protection of learners, personnel and education investments from
impact of natural and human induced hazards.
For example, a broken wrist hurts a lot but the painkillers will only take away the pain not
cure the wrist; you'll need a different treatment to help the bones to heal properly. In this
example, the problem is a broken wrist, the symptom is pain in the wrist and the root
cause is broken bones.
1. Protruding tree branches from outside the campus – Intruders take advantage of it in jumping
over and rob rooms, offices and other place of school
2. Rising cost of safety tools, materials, and equipment – Budget allocated may not be sufficient to
acquire necessary tools, equipment and materials due high cost
3. Climate change- cause unpredictable situation of weather
4. Electrical supply jumpers- Blatantly climbing the school perimeter to illegal connection of
electrical supply from Meralco line
5. Presence of squatters in the vicinity- They post community fears for their life, liberty and
property
6. Illegal parking around the school perimeter- They humpers the rescue and disaster response
activity.
