1. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Write a 5 to 10 line summary of the content of the project with the most relevant data (What, how,
where, when, for what purpose, for whom, with whom, etc.).

2. CONTEXT
Geographical framework, socioeconomic characteristics, population (specifying gender issues), etc.

3. BACKGROUND
Explain the origin of the initiative, if other similar projects are being carried out in the area, how the
initiative was identified, formulated and if there are previous studies that help to better characterize the
background.

4. JUSTIFICATION
Explain the reasons that lead to the project proposal, the importance of the project for the community
that participates in it, explain the problems to be addressed, the objectives to be achieved, the strategy
to be implemented, and support the project by justifying the intervention expected with the project.

5. BENEFITED POPULATION
▪ Beneficiary population identification (disaggregated by gender), number, socio-economic
characteristics, etc.
▪ Stages of the project in which the beneficiaries participate and how they do it.
▪ Criteria and techniques to be applied for the selection of beneficiaries.

6. OBJECTIVES
▪ General Objective: Generic or global description of the wider objective to which the project intends to
contribute to achieve.
▪ Specific Objective: Describe the immediate and positive effect that is expected to be achieved among
the target population.

7. RESULTS
Results to be achieved by the management of the project.

8. ACTIVITIES
The activities that the project must implement in order to achieve the results.

12. SUSTAINABILITY
Supporting policies
To demonstrate whether the proposed intervention has the support of the concerned political authorities
and whether they are willing to provide the necessary coverage and resources to ensure that it is
sustained beyond the implementation period.

Institutional matters
Evaluate if the institution in charge of the project management is capable enough to continue doing it
after the execution period.

Sociocultural matters
Show that the beneficiaries demonstrate ownership of the project and are willing to lead it once external
help stops.

Gender focus
Assess the extent to which the project contributes to promoting equal opportunities in decision-making
and access to resources between men and women.

Economic and financial factors


Analyze whether the project can generate any type of income or, if this is not possible, whether any of
the institutions involved assume these expenses in their budgets.

13. MONITORING AND EVALUATION


Project monitoring system
Provide the necessary mechanisms for the project’s management, who would be leading it, the time
frame needed and with what type of supports and tools.

Evaluations
Specify whether evaluations will be carried out, at what and the characteristics these should have.
