COVID Leave Policy:

 
To facilitate recovery from illness to the employee tested COVID positive,
we have introduced the provision of COVID leaves.
 
Applicability:
 

1.       You can avail upto 28 days leave if you test positive for COVID-19. To
start with you can utilize your EL balance to avail these leaves.  
 

2.       In the event where your EL balance is less than 10 days,


please reach out to your HR for exceptional leave credit of
required leaves. A maximum of exceptional 14 paid COVID
leaves can be provided.

 3.       If you still need leave above this, you can utilize your remaining EL
balance of 10, once EL is exhausted leaves shall be considered as LOP (Loss
of Pay).

  
Conditions:
 
The Leaves must be availed under One (1) continuous period i.e leaves
cannot be taken in breaks. All intervening weekends and public holidays
shall be excluded during the leave period.
 
These leaves can be granted if the employee is tested covid positive, it
cannot be granted if a family member has COVID-19 or if you need to be
quarantined.
 
 
Process to avail exceptional COVID leave of 14 days:
 

·         To avail the exceptional COVID leaves as per point no 2, an


employee will have to write an email to his/her manager and take an email
approval.

·         The email with manager approval will have to be forwarded to HR


along with RT-PCR positive test report and hospital discharge summary (if
applicable).

·         On completion of the process, HR will mark such absence from work
as COVID leave in the system.
Kindly go through below 3 scenarios to get more clarity.

Scenario 1. Employee A has 24 EL balance and has been tested Covid


positive, he/she has been hospitalized for 10 days and after discharge
he/she required 5 more days of leave to recover. What kind of leave should
be applied in this case as per policy?

Ans: 15 days of Earned leaves needs to be applied in the system.


 
Scenario 2. Employee A has 14 EL balance and has been tested Covid
positive, he/she has been hospitalized for 10 days and after discharge
he/she required 5 more days of leave to recover. What kind of leave should
be applied in this case as per policy? After a week’s time on reporting to
work, the employee feels to avail a few more days of leave, say 4 leave. What
kind of leaves should be applied?

Ans: Employees should apply 4 days of Earned leave and since the EL


balance becomes 10, employees shall reach out to their Manager/HR along
with the discharge summary and with RT-PCR positive test report. After
receipt of such documents, HR shall grant 10 exceptional COVID leaves.
Employees need to apply for 4 EL, since COVID leaves and exceptions on
the same can be provided only under 1(one) continuous period i.e. leaves
cannot be taken in breaks.

Scenario 3. Employee C has 04 EL balance and has been tested Covid


positive, he/she has been hospitalized for 18 days and after discharge
he/she required 5 more days of leave to recover. What kind of leave should
be applied in this case as per policy?

Ans: Employees shall reach out to their Manager/HR along with the


discharge summary and with RT-PCR positive test report. After receipt of
such documents, HR shall grant 14 exceptional COVID leaves.
For remaining 4 days of leaves out of the 18 days of hospitalization period,
employees need to apply for 4 EL balances that he had as part of his EL
Balance.
Additional 5 days of leave required, shall be applied as LOP in the system.
