OBSERVED MEANTAL HEALTH-RELATED CONCERNS

1. Emotional and Behavioral Disorder (EBD) because of Socio-demographic status and Childhood Adversities
(Poverty and Family Problem – (broken family/Maltreatment at home/Academic Pressure))

Abstract: Socio-demographic or social status of families in the Philippines has vast effect to children accompanied by
childhood adversities because of having broken family or maltreatment at home. Most common and often viewed as normal
to Filipino culture is the Academic Pressure which led to the development of Emotional and behavioral Disorder to children
mostly adolescence. Poverty plays a major role in parents pressuring their children to perform better at school. In addition,
children who experience maltreatment/ abuse physically or emotionally and those who had broken family tend to perform
low at school. This pressure can be overwhelming, and it can lead children to feel like they are never good enough.
Furthermore, social media has made it easier for children to compare themselves to others, which can also contribute to
feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem.
