For the shown floor, it is required to create model using SAP2000 software.
Figures below show the architecture and structural floor plan (all dimensions
are in meter). Solid slab system is used for whole floor area, except
reception area is a flat slab. Given that:
- Concrete weight per unit volume: 2.50 t/𝑚3
- Concrete modulus of elasticity: 2,200,000 t/𝑚2.
- Ultimate case of loading (1.4 Dead load +1.6 Live load).
- Live load of 0.20 t/m2 for rooms and 0.30 t/m2 for bathrooms & kitchens.
- Floor covering loads of 0.15 t/m2.
- Wall Loads (distributed on floor area): 0.35 t/m2.
- Beams cross-section and slab thicknesses (on structural plan) are in mm.
It is required to show the following:
a) All the input data: 3D model, Grid spacing, defined materials, defined
sections, defined load patterns, defined load combinations, assigned
sections, and assigned loads. [16 marks ]
b) The outputs for the ultimate case of loading [15 marks ]
▪ Bending moments in slabs (M11 and M22),
▪ Bending moments and shear force diagrams in beams
▪ Support reactions.
c) If it is proposed to use a reinforcing mesh in both directions that can
resist ultimate moment of 2.0 m.t , specify whether this mesh will be
adequate or not? [5 marks ]
d) Show deflection due to working loads combination. What is the
value of maximum deflection? [4 marks ]
