Pen holder
INSTRUCTION MANUAL

CAUTION :
This Instruction Manual provides instructions for the pen holder. When you want to use your
sewing machine with this product attached, refer to the “Safety precautions” in the Instruction
Manual for your sewing machine carefully until you fully understand the included precautions
in prior.

1) Installing the assembly plate


Secure pen holder assembly plate ❸ and assembly plate ❷ with two screws ❶ .
2) Installing the assembly plate and the panel plate
Secure the plates assembled in the step 1) with the panel assembly plate and two screws ❶ .

1) Securing the pen holder


Install the pen holder to the pen holder assembly plate with two screws ❻ using a 3 mm hexagonal
wrench key.

2) Connecting the air pipe


Insert the air pipes into the pipe joint of the
pen holder to complete the installation proce-
dure.
* Refer to "2-3. Installing the solenoid valve
(standard device and laser device)" p.7
A B for the positional relationship between the
air tubes A and B which are inserted into
the pipe joint (Fig. 7).

1) Securing the solenoid valve


Remove screws ❶ with a screwdriver as shown in Fig. 1. Also remove blind cap ❷ . Fig. 2 shows
the state after you have removed the aforementioned parts.
Then, secure the solenoid valve on the solenoid valve seat with two screws using a screwdriver as
shown in Fig. 3.

2) After you have inserted the air tubes into the pipe joint of the solenoid valve, check the positional
relationship between this pipe joint and the pipe joint of the pen holder device. (A corresponds to A
and B corresponds to B.)

First, remove the cover shown in Fig. 1.


Take out two φ4 x φ2.5 air tubes from the solenoid valve and put them into the electrical control box
from its bottom. Route the air tubes along the outer surfaces of the casing (Fig. 2).
Pass the two air tubes through the outer surface of the frame (Fig. 3) and pass them through three
R-type cable clamps along the path as shown in Fig. 4. Then, secure the air tubes to the outer surface
of the frame.

1) Pull the solenoid valve cable you have in-


stalled in 2-4 through location A into the top

[Common to the standard/laser type models]

1) Remove the connector shown in Fig. 2. Con-


nect the connector shown in Fig. 1 to the
connector on the side face of the electrical
control box. Connect the connector you have
removed to the remaining connector of the
junction cable B.

2) Connect the solenoid valve cable to the con-


nector of the junction cable B (Fig. 3).

1) Installing the assembly plate


Secure pen holder assembly plate ❸ and assembly plate ❷ with two screws ❶ .
2) Installing the assembly plate and the panel plate
Secure the plates assembled in the step 1) with the panel assembly plate and two screws ❶ .

1) Securing the pen holder


Install the pen holder to the pen holder assembly plate with two screws ❻ using a 3 mm hexagonal
wrench key.

2) Connecting the air pipe


Insert the air pipes into the pipe joint of the
pen holder to complete the installation proce-
dure.

4. Operation

4-1. Adjusting the pen cylinder standard

1) Place a piece of cloth or a sheet of white paper on the template you have already created. (Fig. 1)

2) Attach the template to the clamp (as shown in Fig. 2). Click on "PRESS" shown at the lower part of
the display.

3) Press "Next page" ❶ on the electronic con-


trol main screen. (Fig. 3)

7) When you press "Head 1" ❽ , the X and Y
❽ ❾
values displayed next to the "Head 1" ❽ are
changed. (Fig. 9)

8) Press "Move button" ❾ shown in Fig. 9 to


move the head up and down or to the right
and left to align the tip of the pen of the pen
cylinder with the point (hole you have pricked
with a needle) on the pattern. Then press the
"Return"  to restore the screen to the screen
  Fig. 9  shown in Fig. 8.
After the screen is restored to the screen
shown in Fig. 4, press "Output" ❸ to move
The position at which the pen cylinder and the
needle-pricked hole are aligned for the second time the pen downward to check whether the tip of
the pen is aligned with the needle hole in the
sheet of paper.
If they are not aligned, press the "Manual
feed"  .

4-2-1. Installing and adjusting the pen (for export)


1) Bring the pen holder device to its lowest posi-
tion.
Adjust the position of pen mounting plate ❶
and screw ❷ in accordance with the size of
the pen.

2) Attach the pen to the pen holder device. Ad-


just the distance from the pen to the material.
Then, secure the pen.

1) Removing the old pen


Remove socket ❷ of the pen holder set (Fig. 1) by hand. Then, remove fine adjustment nut ❶ (Fig. 2),
and lastly, remove spring ❸ and pen ❹ together also by hand.

2) Changing to the new pen


Put spring ❸ on new pen ❺ (Fig. 3), screw
socket ❷ into the pen holder set. Then, install
it to the sewing machine. If the pen fails to
come in contact with the paper, you may adjust
fine adjustment nut ❶ and socket ❷ as shown
in Fig. 1 so that the pen comes in contact with
the paper.

4-3. Setting the pen line application software

1) Open the application software to find the target file. ⇒ ❶ Click "Batch processing" ❶ . ⇒ ❷ Select
all of the lines you want to draw with the pen (two or more lines can be selected by keeping the Ctrl
key at the lower left of the keyboard held pressed). Complete the selection. ⇒ ❸ Click the "Change
layer". ⇒ ❹ Select a new layer and click the "Enter".

2) After the completion of the aforementioned procedure, one layer or two or more layers are dis-
played.
The, double-click the "Sewing line layer 1". ⇒ Check the "Convert line to point". ⇒ Set the next op-
tion. ⇒ Click the "Enter".

Stitches correspond to Head 1 here.

3) Then, double-click the layer 2 you want to draw with the pen. Leave all options blank. Change the
Head 1 to Head 3 and click the "Enter".
4) After the completion of the aforementioned procedure, click the "Operation processing" to output the
file. Save that file to complete the procedure.
