Problem Statement
Northern Bukidnon State Colleges’ Research division is a newly-created
division with limited budget resource. Further study is needed on the
implementation and sustainability of 5S toward productivity and more quality
research output.

Purpose Statement
This study aims to improve and sustain 5S implementation of Northern Bukidnon State
Colleges’ Research division in order to increase productivity with a more quality research
output. Additionally, it aims for the assessment of the policies and processes and the
collaboration and discussions among stakeholders, implementers and guiding bodies to
formulate solutions.
 Theoretical Framework
● Productivity or how much and how well the state college produced its
Research- from the resources it used - is dependent on how it implements
5S.
● Kaizen or Continuous Improvement (CI) as a systematic way to achieve
small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and
quality, significantly affects research division's productivity.
● Shewhart/Deming's plan, do, check, act (PDCA) cycle for quality control
purposes can affect efficiency.
● Six Sigma's DMAIC method (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) may
cause increase in production and publication.
● By applying Total quality management TQM or embedding awareness of
quality in all organizational processes, the State College will excel in its
research endeavors.
