I. OBJECTIVES
After the discussion the students shall be able to:
 Identify the different seasons and their characteristics;
 Present a picture about the different seasons on Earth;
 Appreciate the importance of seasons in daily life.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Lesson 1: Seasons
B. References: Quarter 4- Module 6: The Reasons for the Seasons
C. Materials: PPT
D. Value Integration: Appreciation/awareness about the different seasons on planet earth.

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Routinary Activities
a. Prayer
May I ask Josh to lead us a prayer.
Classmates let us all pray.

b. Greetings

Good morning students, how’s your day?

Good morning, ma’am. We are all doing well.
c. Checking of Attendance
Let’s check your attendance. Raise your
hand and say present as I call your name. (Students raise their hand and say present as the
teacher calls in their name)

B. Recall
Before we start with our lesson today, let us
have a quick recall of our previous lesson.
What was our topic last meeting?
Our topic last meeting is How the Tilt of the Earth’s
Axis Affects the Length of Daytime
Great!
How the tilt of the earth’s
axis affects the length of daytime?
Students will give varied answers.

You also learned that different parts of the

earth receive direct and indirect rays, right?
What is the difference between direct and
indirect rays?
The light rays that are hitting the earth at 90 degrees
are known as direct rays. Because the Earth is
curved, not all rays hit it directly. Light rays that hit
the earth at an angle is known as indirect rays.

As we go on, we will encounter more of

these words.
A. Motivation
I think you are all ready for our new lesson,
but before we begin, let’s have a group
activity.
I will divide the class into four groups. Each
group will have 1/4 Cartolina. You will
search any familiar words from the box and
write it on the provided cartolina, and then it
will be posted on the board. The more words
found the more points will be earned. In this
activity, each group will be given 3 minutes
to search for words.

Students will do the activity and posted on the

board.
Let's give a round of applause to the first
group because they got the most points.

B. Presentation of Topic
Read the words on the board.
(Students will read the words on the board)

What do you notice about these words? Students will give varied answers.

You’re right!
These things have something to do with our
lesson for today. As we go on, I want you
to remember all your answers.

C. Lesson Proper
Now, I want you all to look outside. “What
can you say about the weather today? Is it
the same with the weather yesterday?”
(Students answer will vary depending on the
weather that they observed outside.)
Great!
Today, we are going to learn about the
Seasons on Earth.
I will show you some pictures and you will
share your observation about each picture.
Are you ready?
Yes Ma’am
(The teacher will present the picture)

The picture shows the seasons on Earth ma’am.

Who can give the definition of season?

Anyone?
Season is a period that is distinguishes by special
climate conditions ma’am.

Very good!
Season is a period that is distinguished
by special climate condition.

How many seasons do we have on Earth, Ma’am

and what are they?
We have four seasons on earth, the spring, autumn,
Yes_________. summer, winter ma’am.

That’s rigt!

We have four seasons and it is the spring,

autumn, summer, winter

Let’s now discover together the seasons of

the earth.

Spring starts when the day and night are the

same length on March 20. The weather gets
warmer and sunnier. Trees and plants start
to grow. Many animals have their babies in
spring. It starts when the day and night are the same length
on March 20.
When does spring start?

Correct!

Let’s proceed to the next season which is

summer.
Summer begins on the longest day of the
year. In the north this is on 21 June.
Summer is usually the warmest and the
sunniest time of the year. Fruit grows on
trees and plants. Young animals grow
bigger and stronger. Go fishing, camping, play tennis, goo for a hike.
(Students will give varied answers)
Can you give me some activities you do
during summer?

Very good.

Another season is autumn.

Autumn starts when the day and night are
the same length again on September 21.
During autumn, the leaves change color During autumn, the leaves change color and fall
and fall from the trees. Some animals from the trees ma’am.
collect food before winter comes.
What will happen during autumn?

Our fourth season is winter. .

Winter begins on the shortest day of the

year. In the north this is on 21 December.
The weather is colder and, in some places,
there is lots of snow. Plants and trees stop
growing. Some animals, like bats and They conserving their energy through hibernation.
bears, find places to hide and sleep. This is Like batts and bears.
called hibernation.

What happens to animals in winter?

You’re right!

So, I have here

A video presentation to further discuss the
Seasons on earth but before we start to
play the video, let me remind you our rules
when we are watching.

(Make sure that the pupils will listen

carefully and engage themselves into the
discussion.)

Axis and Seasons
Do you have any questions?
D. Application
I think you already understood our lesson so
now let’s have an activity.
I will group you into 2 groups and each
group will have a picture to
discuss/brainstorm. Each group will select
their representative to discuss the picture in
front of the class, they will discuss about
what they have understand on the picture. I
will give you 5 minutes to do it.
Is it clear class? Yes ma’am

1st picture

2nd picture

This will be the rubrics:

Cooperation 25 %
Time Management 25%
Accuracy 50%
Total 100% None so far ma’am

Do you have any questions? (The students will do their activity)

(Each group will discuss and present their work)

Now let's listen to the representative of
each group.

Great job for both groups. Give yourself a

round of applause.
E. Generalization
So today we were able to discuss our topic
about season. Again class, what is season?
Season is a period that is distinguishes by special
climate conditions ma’am
That’s right. What are the four seasons on
earth?

Spring,Summer, Autumn,Winter
Very good class. Again, what causes
season to occur?
Season occurs when earth’s axis tilt as it revolves
around the sun.
Correct. The earth’s tilt and revolution
around the sun affects the amount of direct
and indirect sun rays that is given into
different regions or part of the world. That’s
why different places experiences different
seasons.
Yes ma’am.
Did you get it class?

F. Valuing
As we about to end, I just want to ask you
this question. What do you usually do when
wet and dry season occur?
Ma’am.
Yes________.
-When wet season came or what we call rainy
season, we usually bring umbrella sir and wear
raincoat for us to be protect. While in dry season,
we eat ice cream, go to beach and play outside sir.
-When wet season comes, farmers start to plant
their crop while during dry season, they harvest
them earning money and food for their families.

Very good. That’s right. We can say that

these seasons are part of our lives. We
depend on them in terms of the tasks or our
activities we need to do throughout the
years. With that, I want you to always
remember that these new learnings can help
you to become more aware and more
connected to your surroundings. You will
learn to appreciate the changes that will
come to you, for you to be able to survive
and move forward to your future.
