BURNS
LESSON TITLE:
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
1. Distinguish a minor burn from
BURNS serious burn; and
2. Determine emergency care
specific for a burn classification.
WHAT IS BURN?

•Burns are tissue damage that

TYPES OF BURNS

TREATMENT

1st DEGREE BURNS- this can be immersed immediately in


cold water or place ice wrapped.

2nd DEGREE BURNS – causing skin blister, cover the skin


with sterile dressing but don’t open the blister.

3rd DEGREE BURNS- don’t pull stock clothing from burns, cut
clothing away from burned area. Scrub hands with alcohol or
similar collation before applying dressing to prevent
contamination.
SCALD BURN

-Results from exposure to


moist heat ( steam or hot
fluids) and involve superficial.
