Task 1:

The given bar chart gives data about the citizen's speninding on three distinct needs in UK in 2004.

Overall, different age groups had different demands on the three categories  and the expenditure on
food and beverage increased when people got older.

Regarding people under 60 years old, while a the money young people under 30 allocated to dining
took up the least proportion in their total spending with only above 5%, the opposite was true for the
group 31-45 and 45-60 with approximately 13% and 17%, respectively. Also it can be seen from the
chart that, under 30-year-old individuals spent most budget on restaurant and hotel with around
14%, whilst this fingure of the two other groups was around 12%. Between under 30 and under 60,
the demand for entertainment steadily grew up from 6% to 14% of total expense.

Old people distributed money least to restaurant and hotel with only under 6%. The expenditure on
eating and drinking of 76+ group was the highest at above 22%. Meanwhile, the biggest percentage
for entertainment belonged to the group fro 61-75.

Task 2:

Around the world, many animal species become extinct. Some pp believe that countries and
individuals must try to solve this problem. Others believe that concentrating on problems of human
beings is more important than those concerning species. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Outline:
I am of the opinion that we should concentrate our efforts on preserving animal species
1. On one side of the argument, we must combat the situation of human race.
+ Experience low standards of living
While industrialised countries have fully built their economies, developing an under
developed one have not put more resources into them improves citizen’s lives
+ Need more social stability
Natural disasters, political events and the horrors of war are still a part of life these should
be taken into consideration.
2. However, we must tackle the problem of mass extinction.
+ Food insecurity is a major issue
Animals are an important part of the food chain extinction disrupts the balance of the
ecosystem cant provide the basics of the population.
+ Human have the responsibility to prevent extincions.
Human activites cause environmental pollution, which lead to the disappearance of many
animal rests with humans.

Essay 2:

Some employers offer their employees subsidised membership of gyms and

sports clubs, believing that this will make their staff healthier and thus more
effective at work. Other employers see no benefit in doing so.

Consider the arguments from both aspects of this possible debate, and reach a
conclusion.
Essay:

MB: Employers seek for ways to enhance their employee’s productivit

 one way is subsidising healthy pursuits

TB:
- Mental and physical health—lead to higher level of output and service.
+ likely to improve the work/ life balance because their leisure time will be more fullfilling
+ more motivating than pay increments, perks or finacial rewards such as bonus and incentives
+ lead to job satisfaction
-The problem of leisure-based susidies is that their efficacy is virtually impossible to quantify.
+ other ways: 1 : target-related payments: see whether the objectives are reached or not
2 : the job training/ day release program better career progression or better job
prospects
 these easier to measure, especially in performance reviews and appraisals help to
reduce the risk of redundancy
KB: Health-related subsidies are superfically attractive, however speding funds on ongoing training
would appear ro be a better use of company or HR budgets.
