QUARTER 3
Emotional intelligence can be developed from a very young age and will help
your students cope with any challenges as they grow up. We spoke to some lovely
experts for their amazing insight into how teachers can develop mental health in the
classroom.
Be gentle with yourself as you self-reflect. The goal is not to judge your past choices,
but to reflect on them, learn from them, and make whatever changes you feel are
appropriate for you in the here and now. As you build new habits through self-
awareness, you can become more balanced, healthy, and happy.

“Establishing rules on the first day of class, and always follow through on the
specified rewards for achievement and consequences for misbehavior” (Kline, 2015).
At the beginning of the year, when the rules are shown, the students will sign the
rules like a contract. By signing they are agreeing to obey the rules throughout the
year. Along with this I will always make sure I use positive language and feedback.
This way the students will feel motivated and willing to try and give answers.
Another way I can do is; “greet the students at the door, talk to students one-on-
one, compliments, talking to the students, and greeting students if you see them
outside of the classroom.
