Mr.

Mayor G,

I am writing to you today as a concerned member about the current situation of homelessness in

our city. The number of individuals living on the streets in our downtown area particularly
alarms me.

I have witnessed personally the impact of homelessness on our community. People have been
sleeping in doorways, pleading for food and money. I've seen youths and their families living in
tents. I've watched residents battle addiction and mental disease.

Homelessness is more than simply a personal issue. It is a problem that affects everyone in our
neighborhood. It is an issue for our businesses, schools, and the general public.

I believe that our town can and should do more to address homelessness. I would love to witness
the following things happen:

• Funding for homeless shelters and transitional homes should be increased.

• Increase support services for homeless persons, such as job training, mental health care, and
rehabilitation for addiction.

• Collaborate with businesses to develop more affordable housing choices.

• Put a stop to predatory lending practices that target homeless people.

• Make it easier for folks to get back on their feet by making identification, birth certificates, and
other key documents available.

These initiatives, I believe, would make a significant difference in the lives of persons facing
homelessness in our city. I implore you to take them seriously and to collaborate with your city
council colleagues to make them a reality.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

[Key]
