Question 2
Do you think that awareness of oral health is
neglected? Why do we need to consider
about it?
Dental assistant:
An individual's oral health is an integral part of their overall health and an asset. The topic of oral health
has always been neglected. People have underestimated the consequences of poor oral health, resulting
in more serious problems that are difficult to treat later in life. Education plays a significant role in
determining one's level of awareness regarding one's Oro-dental health. It is therefore imperative that
dental professionals spread awareness about oral hygiene and dental health. It is necessary to extend
this approach beyond the clinics through a variety of outreach programs in areas where oral health care
facilities are less accessible. Media can also serve as a tool for educating the public and motivating them
to visit a dentist on a regular basis. The knowledge of oral health is considered to be an essential
prerequisite for health-related behavior. Most people are unaware of the connection between oral
hygiene and systemic diseases. Numerous diseases first manifest through oral signs and symptoms, thus
going undiagnosed or untreated as a result of this lack of awareness. Consequently, there is a dire need
for comprehensive educational programs to promote effective oral hygiene and provide information on
correct oral hygiene practices.
