Mohed Syukri Bin Zainal Abidin is an applied psychologist of religion with a focus on
psychology and religious studies, among other things. He has studies about the healing by
using the religion practices and how effective it is. This article of his that I will be using
is related to this topic. The purpose of the study was to s to examine the effectiveness of
Sufi healing technique on drug addiction treatment. Mohed examined the techniques is
used by the Sufi healing to treat drug addiction as spiritual therapy, offers a combination
of physical and spiritual treatments that normally focuses on the purification of the soul,
external and internal self-control, the use of remembrance of God and the order is used to
fulfill the need in treating drug addicts. The common theme he observed among people
who believe and follow Sufi’s religion was that the techniques are based on practices
originating from the Qur’an and the Sunnah and well-known Sufi figures in the Islamic
world such as Harith al-Muhasibi, al-Ghazali, al-Tustari, al-Qushayri and more (Abdul
Mujib & Mudzakir, 2002). and for judgement about Sofi practices effectiveness in
addiction to be addressed. This article would be a great source for Psychologists and
healthcare clinic of addition to learn how a religious minority views health and healing by
studying the methodology were used in this article. I will use the results of the
Demographic Data and Drug Addiction Treatment. In addition to, Effectiveness of Sufi
Healing Therapy (SHT) Model were resulted from the article to discus and determine the
impact of Sufi practices in health and addiction.
