1. Description of the City/Municipality/Barangay:

Barangay Tanza Timawa II is one of the 180 barangays located at the downtown area in the
City Proper District, Iloilo City. It is located east of Brgy. West Timawa, west of Brgy.
Bagumbayan, north of Barangay Bonifacio Tanza and south of Brgy. San Felix and Villa Anita
and is about 1.3 kilometers from the city center. It has a land area of 44,600 sq. m. It
composed of 7 Areas namely: Are 1 to Area 7.

Barangay Tanza Timawa II is highly classified as a commercial and zoning area. It is also
where the Tanza Cemetery is located and a wide area of business establishments. The
residential area of the barangay are mostly informal settlers. The main sources of livelihood
of the people are: pedicabs and tricycles, food vending, sari-sari stores, boarding houses and
delicacies manufacturing and furniture making. The dialect or language spoken are
Hiligaynon, English and Filipino.

2. Demographic Profile:

Based on the latest Census of Population 2020, Barangay Tanza Timawa II is populated by
3,186.00 (number of people) where 2084 are male and 1114 are female. The table below
shows that children comprise about 29.57 percent of the total population. Many of the
residents are locals in the community and some came from the province of Iloilo renting
while working and studying in the City.

3. Functionality of the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC)

The Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) of Barangay Tanza Timawa II was
reorganized through Executive Order No. 02 series of 2022 issued last January 1, 2022. The
BCPC has developed a Barangay Action Plan for Children with specific budget, has developed
ordinances for children, is able to submit Accomplishment Reports regularly, and has
indicators demonstrating concrete results for children.
4. Budget of the Barangay for BCPC

The Table below shows the budget allocation of the Barangay Tanza Timawa II for the BCPC
activities based on the provisions of the law. From 2020 to 2022, the budget for BCPC
appears to be increasing.

The table below shows that the total number of crimes committed against children in 2021
was zero (0), and three (3) in 2022. The resident of the barangay are highly aware of the
laws and policies on children right protection which contributes in our zero case on crimes

7. Crimes committed by Children

The table below shows that the number of children who committed crimes in 2021 is zero
(0) and 2022 records one (1) case. Programs and policies of the barangay were implemented
properly effectively which helps in preventing cases of crimes committed by children.

8. Number of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).

In 2021, there were zero (0) CICL in Barangay Tanza Timawa II and three (3) in 2022 for a
total of three (3). From 2021 to 2022, the data shows that the barangay has not conducted
any diversion or any intervention activity with regards to cases of children conflict with
(CICL) due to unavailability of filed case.

them were street children, child-members of gangs, and out of school children.
