C. Summary of the content to cover.

Briefly describe ‘what’ content you need to cover. This will inform the lesson objectives and
choice of teaching strategy.
The objective of this lesson is to determine the percentage of a given object(s)' presence
within a group of 100 objects. convert the percentage into a decimal. convert the
percentage into a fraction. determine how much something will cost if it is discounted by a
given percentage.

D. Lesson Objectives
List the objectives for this specific lesson below. Use the verbs from Blooms Taxonomy to frame
your objectives.
1. By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to convert percentage
2. By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to understand what percentage is.
3. By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to fractions as percentage
E. Curriculum Integration (if relevant)
Briefly describe how this lesson integrates content, skills or knowledge from other areas of the
curriculum (if relevant).
English, leaners will be exposed to a lot of jargon and familiar words. This topic will help
the learners’ vocabulary to sharpen up.

F. Rationale for Lesson Design

Consider the following questions and write a paragraph that responds to these questions in the
space provided below:

1. How does the knowledge of this topic inform choices for learning design?
• What is the main idea/s and most important things to know about this topic?
In this lesson I will be teaching learners how to convert percentage even a fraction as it is
the most important thing to know about this topic as well as what the definition of
percentage. This is because there are a few ways in teaching learners how to make the
content easier to grasp. It is also important because it will help learners take on more
complex questions confidently as they go across grades. It also helps them become logical
thinkers.
2. How do learners and their diversities inform choices for lesson design?
• How have you considered the learning support needs in this class?
Before I begin, I am going to explain to the learners’ essential elements such as
percentage, convert and the definition of percentage. During my teaching phase I will
randomly pick out learners to read questions from the textbook to see if learners are able
to read English properly and that they understand the question being asked because some
children come from different backgrounds and English is not their home language. For
those who don’t understand English dictionary’s will be provided. Examples will be given
in the slides to show learners what to do when tackling percentages and fractions and
those that do not understand the questions will be helped individually during our
classwork activity. Before the lesson is complete every learner will understand this topic
and will be ready for assessment.

3. How do opportunities in this context inform choices for lesson design?

• What possibilities and constraints have I considered?
Maths anxiety: (Landsberg , et al., 2015) Learners may have fear or misunderstanding odd
mathematics and perceive it as a difficult subject. I will overcome their fear of

mathematics through the use of simple mathematical terminology and make pauses to
explain any words that I think they may find difficult of challenging.

G. Teaching and learning strategies.

Select the teaching strategies you will Whole class
employ that are suitable for each phase of Interactive method
your lesson, for your content and context.
Note: You can select more than one strategy for
each phase. Delete if more than one strategy is
not required in each phase.
H. Lesson Phases
Phases Write, in detail, every element/step of your lesson for each phase. Include Resources
time on task for each phase.
Required

I will begin the lesson by asking the learners if they have ever noticed that Platinum
some common words like percentage being anywhere, or if they have mathematics
observed that some businesspeople always talk about percentage or a textbook
cut. I will ask students to share their ideas or prior knowledge about •Workbooks
percentage. Refresh learner’s minds on percentage and assess learner’s •Whiteboard
prior knowledge through a quiz using various factors that affected Marker
percentage like fraction. I then a play a video explaining to them what
percentage is and how it works.

Define percentage as a measure of a whole number 100. Projector

Demonstrate how to calculate percentage using a fraction.
Discuss on how to convert percentage (e.g., 1/100= 1 Engage learners in a
discussion about the factors that influence percentage like the salary,
shares. Leaners are to refer textbook page number 140 for a class activity
(Exercise 23.1).

summarize the key points discussed in the lesson.

Encourage learners to observe and analyse percentage and its changes in
their own surroundings and how it affects them.
Assign a related activity or worksheet for leaners to reinforce their
understanding of percentage on page number 141 for homework.

Monitor students' participation and engagement during class discussions.

Evaluate students' understanding through their responses to questions and completion of
the assigned activity or worksheet.
