Dear Mr Zacharia
My name is Pascal Machai and I am the Chairperson of a Non-profit organization called The Essential
Platform based in Meyerton Central. On Saturday 10/12/2022 our organization was hosting a Capacity
Building Programme for people with albinism.

The statement of the problem:

The mysterious killing of albinos causes uneasiness among the albino community, as they feel very
insecure under these circumstances. The state of insecurity among persons with albinism requires
immediate attention before it spirals out of control. If the lives of persons with albinism are to receive
substantive meaning, the government must provide a safe and secure environment for this vulnerable
group of people.
The myriad of difficulties South Africans with albinism face make them a very vulnerable group in need
of greater protection. Myths and stereotypes about albinism abound, for example, there is the myth that
albino children are the result of racial mixing, and the myth that albinism is very contagious.  Dangerous
myths and stereotypes associated with albinism in South Africa place individuals with this condition in a
very vulnerable position.
About the workshop
The purpose of that workshop was meant to empower the people with albinism so that they can be in
charge of their fate instead of always relying on handouts. Another important aspect of the workshop is to
create platforms for many social-excluded and disenfranchised people with albinism.
The workshop was held at Midvaal City Hall and was attended by both parents of the beneficiaries
(people with albinism). This project is funded by The National Arts Council where boys and girls who
were part of the project where among other things were taught the “Diphotha Dance” and other capacity
Building-related activities.
This project is an-ongoing process since the beneficiaries will meet once a month as an endeavor to plan
and execute programmes and challenges that facing people with albinism.

Kind regards
Pascal Machai (0715519593)
