Reducing Complexity
The complicated business in designing a process plant with large amounts
of line pipe, pipe spools, valves and equipment operating at different
temperatures just got easier. Why use multiple external coating systems
when one coating specification can do it all? UPC – a truly Universal Pipe
Coating. The days of blasting off incorrectly selected coatings are over.
Single Specification
UPC offers a unique solution to reducing the complexity of external
coating selection. Instead of using many coating systems for different
temperature ranges, UPC makes it possible to specify one product from
cryogenic service temperatures of -321ºF (-196ºC) through to the highest
temperatures within the process plant at +1202ºF (650ºC).
UPC's unique inorganic chemistry enables it to provide both corrosion and
temperature resistance across this vast temperature range.
Designed for application to the externals of all types of stainless, alloy and
carbon steel, UPC offers corrosion protection for both un-insulated and
insulated substrates and can be an integral tool in combating corrosion Damage Resistance
under insulation (CUI). UPC’s inherent nature means this coating ‘bruises’ or ‘polishes’ when
knocked or banged, rather than crack like traditional coatings.
Increased Productivity
The reduction in coating complexity offers many benefits from increased Easy Application & Repair
factory throughput and simpler paint stock management to the more UPC can be applied using standard spray application techniques.
intangible, but equally important, decrease in coating selection errors. Where mechanical impact has occurred during installation, UPC can be
easily repaired by brush or roller to SSPC SP11 prepared surfaces.
UPC can also be applied in one coat of 8 mils (200 microns) using a
multi-pass technique. Cryogenic Equipment
UPC’s film properties allow it to be used in situations where rapid temperature
