Schools Division of Davao City
CROSSING BAYABAS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Crossing Bayabas, Toril, Davao City
Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to analyze and identify
key components of persuasive texts and create their own persuasive pieces using
appropriate persuasive techniques.
Duration: 60 minutes
Materials:
Begin with a brief discussion about the concept of persuasion. Ask students to share
their understanding of persuasive writing and where they might encounter it in real
life (advertisements, speeches, opinion articles, etc.).
Share the lesson's objectives with the students.
Display examples of persuasive texts on the projector or hand them out to the
students.
Divide the students into small groups and distribute the worksheets with examples of
persuasive texts.
In their groups, have students analyze the examples for persuasive techniques used,
such as emotional appeal, logical reasoning, anecdotes, statistics, etc.
Each group presents their findings to the class, discussing the techniques they
identified.
Provide students with a persuasive writing prompt. For example: "Write a persuasive
paragraph advocating for the inclusion of a new extracurricular activity in your
school."
Instruct students to plan their persuasive piece by identifying their main argument,
reasons, and supporting evidence. Encourage them to consider the persuasive
techniques discussed earlier.
Students begin drafting their paragraphs individually.
Wrap-up (5 minutes):
Invite a few students to share their drafted paragraphs with the class.
Summarize the key points of the lesson and highlight the importance of persuasive
writing skills in various aspects of life.
Assessment:
Assessment can be based on participation in discussions, the quality of analysis
during the group activity, and the depth and persuasiveness of the students' created
persuasive paragraphs.
Remember that this lesson plan can be adapted based on your student’s needs,
your teaching style, and the resources available to you.
