INTRODUCTION TO THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HUMAN PERSON 12

I. Topic: Revealing the Whole

II. Objectives:
a. distinguish a holistic perspective from a partial point of view;
b. differentiate between philosophical and non-philosophical questions; and
c. appreciate philosophical questions as a means of opening one’s curiosity and discovering
answers to the wonders of life.

III. Reference/s: Philosophy of the Human Person; Loreto G. Camiloza et. al

IV. Procedure

STAGES ACTIVITIES
• The class will start by asking the students their idea about
EXPLORE/MOTIVATION Philosophy.
• The students will read two statements four (4) and (5) from
page 3 (Entry Point) and answer ‘Which of the following
expresses moments of being in the world of philosophy?’
• The students will justify their answer regarding the question.
• After distinguishing between the two statements, the teacher
will direct them to read an idiom and ask the students to
FIRM explain the English idiom “Do not confuse the forest with the
UP/INTRODUCTION trees”.
• If the students are having difficulty, the teacher will guide
them by making similar statements like “The topping is not
the Pizza” until the students independently get the meaning
of the quote.
• The introduction will lead them to the discussion about the
topic: REVEALING THE WHOLE.
DEEPEN/ DISCUSSION • The students will read the topics under Revealing the Whole and
let them explain base on their understanding. The teacher will give
them additional information as well.
• Famous philosophers will be introduced as well as their method of
philosophizing.
Activity 1
The students will identify the following questions as Philosophical
(P) or non-philosophical (NP).
1. What is the age of the earth?
2. What is love?
TRANSFER 3. Why do we suffer?
4. How many Filipinos are obese?
5. Where is the best place to live?

As a teenager who is always curious about things, how significant
are philosophical questions in your life?

V. Assessment/Assignment/Agreement
Summarize lesson two in a way you will understand it more. This will help with the flow of
discussion next meeting.
