Through Jan 20, 2012: MYXing It Up: 20012011 An exhibition featuring more than 50 collaborative youth art works

that traces the 10-year evolution of the educational youth nonprofit, MYX: Multicultural Youth eXchange, from its post 9/11 beginnings to its ongoing diverse work in Philadelphia and abroad. MYX uses the creative, collaborative nature of art to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to be empathetic, engaged and socially responsible citizens at home and around the world.

Woodmeres fall hay maze offers an interactive, large-scale work of art for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Through Nov 6: Violet Oakley: The Building of the House of Wisdom. In 1910-11, Violet Oakley collaborated with architect Frank Miles Day on a monumental mural cycle for the entrance hall of a townhouse designed for Charlton Yarnall at 17th and Locust Streets in Philadelphia. Through Jan 8, 2012: Flirting with Abstraction: Modernist and Contemporary Art of Philadelphia and the Promised Gift of Karen Segal and Woodmeres Collection. Through Jan 8, 2012: Mary G. L. Hood and Philadelphia Modernism. Mary G. L. Hood (1886-1967) was a modern painter who worked and exhibited in Philadelphia and later in New Hope, PA, from the 1930s through the 1960s. Her art is characterized by brilliant color, a lyrical sense of line, a playful willingness to distort spatial relations, and a flirtation with primitivism. This exhibition features exceptional paintings from two centuries of American art. The paintings chronicle American history from 1799 to 1969 in portraiture, historical, genre, still life and landscapes. Works by Albert Bierstadt, Mary Cassatt, Frederic E. Church, Thomas Cole, Childe Hassam, Winslow Homer, James Peale, and Andrew Wyeth are featured in the exhibition. A series of related programs for American Odyssey: The Warner Collection of American Art will be offered this fall. The Arthur Ross Gallery will also present a one-day symposium on American collections on Friday, October 21.
