Community relations is a buzzword that gets thrown around often, but what does community

relations mean and how important is it?

“Community” is an extensive term, but in business it’s about creating mutually beneficial

partnerships within the greater demographic area your business serves

GOLDEN JULIROS is a Nigeria chemical company that base in Benin number 21

Evbiemwen street of wire road Benin city the company also have a branch at Azama street of

isekhere road. in the same community but in a separate street, the company specializes in

producing of chemicals, chemical such as ethanol, plastics, fertilizers, medicines, and

cleaning products, among others.

THE PROBLEM OF THE HOST COMMUNITY.

Over sometime the Community was having issues with the company, because of the chemical

implications effects, they complain of polluting the environment, particulate matter, nitrogen

oxides, and sulfur dioxide, which can contribute to respiratory and cardiovascular problems.

The community also complain of the Chemical manufacturing that it contribute to water

pollution through the release of pollutants into waterways. 

STRATEGIES EMPLOYED BY THE COMPANY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

These include the adoption of cleaner production methods, the development and use of safer

chemicals, the implementation of pollution prevention and waste minimization programs, the

use of renewable energy sources, and the adoption of sustainable resource management

practices.

CLEANER PRODUCTION METHODS

Cleaner production methods involve the use of technologies and processes that minimize the

generation of waste and the release of pollutants into the environment. This can include the
use of closed-loop systems to minimize waste generation and the implementation of process

optimization and energy efficiency measures to reduce the environmental impact of chemical

manufacturing.

SAFER CHEMICALS

The development and use of safer chemicals can also help to reduce the impact of chemical

manufacturing on the environment. This can include the use of green chemistry principles to

design and produce chemicals that are less toxic and more environmentally friendly.

POLLUTION PREVENTION AND WASTE MINIMIZATION

Pollution prevention and waste minimization programs can also help to reduce the impact of

chemical manufacturing on the environment. These programs can include the implementation

of best management practices to prevent spills and leaks, the use of advanced wastewater

treatment technologies, and the implementation of waste reduction and recycling programs.

RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

The use of renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydropower, can also help to

reduce the impact of chemical manufacturing on the environment by reducing the industry's

reliance on fossil fuels.

As a C. S. R. apart from letting them know about the strategies that was employed by the

organization which are listed above that is :

1. CLEANER PRODUCTION METHODS.

2. SAFER CHEMICALS

3. POLLUTION PREVENTION AND WASTE MINIMIZATION

4. RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES.

The organization also provides the community with some support like assisting them in their

cultural activities, helping them to clean the gutters, help them in their end of year parties like

carnivals, igue festivals, ehenma, which is new yam festival. As a C.S.R practitioner I make

sure the organization also provided them with security assistance by providing for them one

gun barrel and bullet, for their security work as a way of providing security job for the

community and also that will be beneficiary to the organization too.
