Lighting Design Project

Abstract
Creating a lighting design solution for a particular area of the winter circus was the goal of
this project. After a thorough site visit, we set out to develop a proposal that had been properly
considered and investigated, with the ultimate aim of putting it into use utilizing DIALUX.

1 Lighting concept
This space as shown in Figure 1 is ideal for an exhibition because of its double-height design, landing,
lower rooms, existing windows, and genuine features. Attention is drawn to the top window, which
allows natural light to gradually illuminate the circular area through the dome. Drawing, photography,
and drama are all evoked by the white milk glass’s diffuse, lightbox-like look.

The lightbox concept will continue with the addition of an installation to the huge windows, subtly
illuminating the double-height area for art display. Curiousity is piqued by the floor windows’ translu-
cent white coating, which solely shows the footfalls of guests. A system of linear luminaires can be
used as accent lighting and zoning for particular exhibitions, enhancing the recurrent grid pattern in
window profiles. Figure 2 shows the concept sketch and Figure 3 the different inspirations.

2 Luminaires’ choice and disposition
To achieve the desired artistic effects, the room and the white coating on the window can be effectively
illuminated using rectangular linear luminaires that emit light both upwards and downwards. Wall-
mounted luminaires would be a more suitable choice as they allow for the illumination of the entire
room. Mounting the luminaires separately from the window ensures that the room is adequately lit
while also highlighting the artistic elements of the white coating on the window.
We chose the Lightnet Matric W4[Liga] lighting system with 47W, which has a length of 890 mm.
This made it possible for us to install four luminaires above and below the window. We chose a color
temperature of 4000K to achieve a neutral white light, striking the perfect balance between warmth
and coolness. The Figure 4 shows the luminaire and its Light intensity distribution in Figure 5 .

We chose Delta Light’s BOXY L 92733 DIM8 B-B luminaires to project light onto the wall to
illuminate the art exposition area. These luminaires, with a precise beam angle of 33°, will produce
a focused and dynamic lighting effect. The color temperature of 3000K was purposefully chosen to
draw attention to the artwork, emphasizing its details and creating a captivating atmosphere. The
combination of the BOXY L 92733 DIM8 B-B[Ligb] luminaires and the 3000K color temperature will
improve the overall visual impact of the art exhibition, enthralling visitors and emphasizing the artistic
creations on display. Figure ?? shows the luminaire.
