The Firm represents a boundaryless organizational approach. It promotes open communication, collaboration,
and idea sharing. There are no barriers or hierarchies that hinder the flow of information in the organization.
Employees are encouraged to approach the partners of the Firm directly in case of any problem. Since this is a

on different clients closely with Partners, seniors, and each other. This non-traditional structure enables the
associates to convey their messages to the Partners without relying on anyone else.

Since Saiduddin & Co is a private firm, the organizational structure is much different from larger organizations
in certain aspects. The Firm does not have designated Corporate, Marketing, Finance, or HR departments. In
the case of planning and decision-making, these strategies are often planned and carried out collectively
among the Partners and seniors.

For HR responsibilities, the Firm relies on the expertise of Mr. Hashim Lodhi, Senior Advocate/Head of HR, who
handles specific HR duties on the side along with his primary legal responsibilities. Mr. Hashim is a direct
contact for matters related to issuing Certificates, Letters, Salary Slips, and other HR duties.

Regarding Marketing Strategy, the Firm does not have a dedicated marketing department or a formal
marketing strategy. Instead, for building reputation and client acquisition, the Firm relies on its established

There are many strengths of the Firm, including but not limited to:

Strong leadership and an open-door policy at the Firm inspire and motivate employees, which helps promote
a positive work culture and enables teamwork among the associates.

each client’s unique need with specifically tailored strategies.

Weaknesses

Limited Marketing Efforts

Although the Firm has been able to gain clients through word-of-mouth referrals, reputation, and other
strategies, however, not having a dedicated marketing department to advertise the Firm’s services may limit
the Firm’s client acquisition efforts.

Limited Structures
Having no separate departments such as Financial, Corporate, Marketing, and HR may or may not limit the
Firm’s growth in the future. Nevertheless, having dedicated departments, each working on its specialized area,
would allow the Firm to reach a level – in terms of Client Acquisition, Financial Planning, Employee Training &
Development, etc. - that surpasses its current position by a considerable margin, which would allow the Firm
to expand its client base and formulate effective growth strategies for the future.
2. Job, Responsibilities, and Professional Contribution

2.1. Job & Responsibilities

Tax Filing & Compliance

One of my primary job responsibilities as a Junior Tax Associate at Saiduddin & Co. is to prepare and file monthly
sales tax returns to both Provincial and Federal Authorities, which entails using the online portals of the
respective bodies, including the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), and Federal
Board of Revenue (IRIS). Furthermore, I am tasked with preparing and filing monthly withholding tax payments,
plus making the bank challans of those payments for various clients. Other responsibilities include filing Income
Tax Returns, preparing bank reconciliation statements, etc.

Tax Calculations and Documentation

My other responsibilities included preparing various tax calculations such as Tax Calculations under section 7-
E of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and similarly, preparing Reconciliations of Expenses, Sales Tax, and
Withholding tax payments made by various clients in case of notices received by the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, drafting notices in response to a wide range of notices received by clients from authorities,
preparing relevant supporting grounds, tax computations, evidence, and others, to help prepare seniors for
their cases against the authorities and their respective officers.

Corporate and Legal Support

I have also worked on preparing Security Exchange and Commission of Pakistan (SECP) company forms such as
Form A (Annual Return), Form 29 (Particulars of key positions), etc. Moreover, I have also drafted society
incorporation affidavits along with Gratuity and Provident Fund Trust deeds for two companies.

2.2. Professional Contribution

My role as a Junior Tax Associate involved responsibilities such as assisting in Tax compliances, documentation,
preparing accurate tax computations, etc. It also included filing monthly Sales Tax Returns and Withholding
Payments before their deadlines. In addition to the core responsibilities mentioned above, I have been actively
contributing to me and my colleagues’ work efficiency by developing Macro Excel sheets. These sheets have
significantly reduced the time required to prepare the raw computations data provided by clients and set them
up for the templates provided by the relevant authorities on their portals such as SRB, PRA, FBR (IRIS and PRAL)
to file tax payments.
3. Specific Concepts, Knowledge, and Operating Tools Learnt at Iobm -
Applied in This Job

Principle of Taxation – Spring 2023 – Muhammad Nauman Batavia

Since my job was at a Tax Firm, the first thing that helped me at the job was my learning in the course
mentioned above. Sir Nauman taught us the practical aspects of filing taxes for salaried individuals,
non-salaried individuals, Tax on Income from Business, Tax computations Such as computations u/s
7E of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and other tax computations. This course also taught me the
backend of tax calculations, such as the laws pertaining to each tax percentage deduction, etc. These
things helped me understand the complexities of Tax laws at my job, enabling me to learn other
practical aspects of my job quickly.

Company Law and Secretarial Practices – Fall 2022 – Shazia Baig

Another course that also helped me in my job was this course. The practical aspects taught to us by
Ma’am Shazia helped me obtain tasks other than the traditional responsibilities of a Tax job, which I
would not have been able to get otherwise if it wasn’t for my knowledge from this course. This course
taught us about the company's incorporation process, statutory form filings, company name
reservation process, and numerous other practical requirements for dealing with SECP.
Other noteworthy mentioning courses that helped me either directly or indirectly in the course of my
job. The following are the other courses but are not limited to:

Consumer Protection Act & Electronic Crime Laws – by Madiha Arif: This course helped me
understand the technicalities of law, how to read cases, and their judgments.

Cost Accounting – by Rabia Sabri: This course has helped me understand the complexities that went
into Accounting other than what I had learned before.

Financial Reporting – by Hassan Marfani: This course has helped me better grasp the accounting
standards IFRS and IAS, which are essential in preparing Financial Statements, which have helped me
analyze and comprehend companies' Financial Statements more clearly than before.
