RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

The study has found the impact of YouTube tutorials specifically for skills development

among the SHS-CSS students of ACLC College Ormoc, in order to find how many Students

have become dependent on technology (YouTube tutorials) in order to solve a problem or

develop a skill, or get themselves learn anything which may be out the academic course

sometimes. The survey on the SHS-CSS students of ACLC College Ormoc found that all of

them were internet user and YouTube is their first preference when it came to video viewing

and sharing. The survey results showed that dependency of youth on YouTube tutorials for

moderate amount for learning is evident.

It is presented in Table 1 that the CSS Students of ACLC College Ormoc are inclined to

watching Youtube video tutorials as “often” as shown by the average score of 4.37. They

prefer watching Youtube videos often in learning or developing a new skill, watching news,

or vlogs. The highest mean score went to indicator with a corresponding Likert interpretation

of “frequently”. Statement 3 got the lowest mean score with a corresponding Likert

interpretation of “often”.

Hypothesis Testing

This study has utilized the SPSS for hypothesis testing and analysis using correlation and

linear regression.

Table 3 revealed that the relationship between 2 variables has an interpretation of a high

positive correlation since the computed value which is 0.968482 is greater than the tabular

value 0.632 and the α value 0.05. It shows that watching Youtube tutorials significantly affect

the development of skills among CSS students of ACLC College of Ormoc.

This table indicates that the regression model predicts the dependent variable significantly

well. How do we know this? Look at the "Regression" row and go to the "Sig." column.

This indicates the statistical significance of the regression model that was run. Here, p<

0.0005, which is less than 0.05, and indicates that, overall, the regression model statistically

significantly predicts the outcome variable (it is a good fit for the data).

It means the null hypothesis has been rejected and the alternative hypothesis has been

accepted. It shows that YouTube tutorials are developing skills among CSS students of

ACLC College of Ormoc. As in this case the p value is (.000) which is less than (.05) thus the

statistical test applied for hypothesis testing is significant.

Discussion

The study concluded that YouTube is popular overall but when specifically coming to the

popularity of tutorial, the results show that students said that they have watched a great deal

of YouTube tutorials for software learning. To be noted that the five-point Likert scale used

in survey had the highest degree of as “a great deal”. Thus, it is evident that the Tutorials are

popular among youth. Moreover, watching a tutorial help the students to develop skill and

has resulted in positive behavior towards learning. Respondents also believed they

moderately mastered some of the skills through YouTube Tutorials. Overall result indicates
that dependent variable varies significantly by the impact of dependent variable, which means

YouTube tutorials play important role in developing skills among the students.
