production output are supplied to SR. Pedro lechon manok, while the remaining (30%) is
sold to retail outlets under the brand name Manok Pinoy. This unit is responsible in the
dispensation of piglets to eligible recipients of the foundation. The program allows the
members or recipients to earn a living without spending a single centavo. Feeds and
medicines are likewise provided to them. The feed mill division provides the required
feeds for both the poultry and piggery units of ACI. The production of feeds is not only
exclusive to the poultry and piggery divisions but also to commercial outlets within the
Mindanao area. The feed mill division is currently producing a monthly average of
80,000 bags. This is for both the poultry, piggery, and commercial requirements.
However, the management is seriously considering to further increase the volume of
production to meet the demands. The dressing plant facility of ACI takes care in the

SKILLS LEARNED AND RELATED LEARNING EXPERIENCES

The following are the skills and related learning experiences that trainees have

developed during their training.

Manipulative Skills
1. Site Inspection– Through this active learning process, the trainees were able to

comprehend the conditions unique to each site, the fieldwork techniques and tools

employed, and the most efficient methods to accomplish the task at the sites. The

trainees wore the proper PPE while performing a site walkover. The trainees

became aware of the need to confirm the on-field compliance with Safety

Standards, working conditions, and other crucial work site areas during the site

inspection.

Communicative Skills
1. Active Listening– By listening to the Plant Operators or PCO the trainee learned

a lot of information on wastewater treatment..

Managerial Skills
1. Adaptability – The trainee were exposed to different departments within the

ACI DP where her ability to adapt different learning environment was tested

and developed.

2. Collaboration – The trainee were able to collaborate with different plant

operators of the ACI who shared about their experiences, knowledge, and

challenges of their job.

3. Time Management – The trainee struggled to adjust to the different time

intervals and adjustments in managing the SBR’s in the wastewater facility.

10

With this I was able to practice good time management as I have to monitor

the recordings of the wastewater facility.

Other Related Learnings

1. Basic Occupational Safety and Health – The brief program gave the students

the fundamental knowledge and abilities they needed to identify environmental,

health, and safety risks to maintain a safe, healthy, accident-free workplace.

Additionally, the trainees learn how to determine appropriate control measures,

and developing and implementing OSH policies and programs.

11

PROBLEMS MET

The trainee has met internship problems on and before the whole training period.

Internship Problems
The following were the internship problems met by the trainee during the conduct

of their training:

1. The training was more focused to the wastewater facility. As a result, the trainee

wasn’t able to explore the SWM of the company.

Institutional Problems
The following was the institutional problem met by the trainees during the

conduct of their training:

1. The trainee was unprepared for the middle of the year due to delays in confirming

the master list of internship companies.

12

SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS

Following the trainee’s conduct, On-the-Job Training at the Anakciano

Incorporated Dressing Plant Division (ACI DP), and valuable experiences gained, the

trainees would want to propose solutions to the problem encountered by both the

institution and the agency.

Internship
1. Although the trainee have received a diverse overview and training as I were able

to observe and learned from the wastewater facility, I wasn’t able to explore the

company’s SWM. Hence it is suggested that ACI DP creates a fixed schedule on

their SWM for the trainee to learn and traverse the company’s ways in dealing

their solid wastes.

Institutional
1. The list of companies which the institution of USTP – Claveria established a

partnership for OJT program should be provided at least two to three months

ahead before midyear so that the students will be able to decide where they want

to conduct their internship and weigh how much money they are likely to

prepare.
13

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary
While training at Anakciano Incorporated Dressing Plant Division (ACI DP), the

trainees encountered a lot of knowledge. The trainee was exposed to the actual work

inspection methods, familiarized the documents prepared by the pollution control officer,

and discovered the duties of a pollution control officer. The trainee also improved her

social abilities and learned to adjust to the environment. Within the 240 hours of OJT, the

trainee learned a lot under the supervision of plant operators, pollution control officer,

safety officers, and the technical manager. The trainee observed how ACI DP do their

wastewater treatment. Additionally, the trainees learned interpersonal communication,

confidence, flexibility, teamwork, critical thinking, and prioritization skills. These are

character-building qualities that they could use in academia, government, and industry.

Although their time as trainees at the ACI DP is up, the trainee had a fruitful and

memorable on-the-job training experience there. I am eager to work with them again this

time as a co-worker.

Conclusion
The trainee obtained most of the necessary trainings or, at least, received a basic

overview from the different training needs which are mentioned on the objectives.

Majority of the knowledge gained by the trainee were the concepts and management of

water quality that includes wastewater treatment methods. The trainee also received

knowledge about the dressing plants operation and management of their solid waste.

Moreover, the trainee was able to practice and improve their communication as they used
14

to interact with some of the company’s staffs, most specially with plant operators and

safety officer, which also boosted my confidence.

Hence, the trainee was delighted and satisfied of her ACI DP training.

Recommendations
The trainee completed a month-long on-the-job training program on ACI DP and

achieved a fresh experience that provided her with knowledge and skills. To continually

send trainees who are recommendable to strengthen the foundation for increasing job

employment for graduates of environmental engineering programs. Future trainees of

ACI DP should request a fixed and comprehensive solid waste management plan and

schedule for their solid waste as a part of the training rather than depending on the

dressing plant’s quota every day, so that, the trainees will be exposed to the actual solid

waste management of the dressing plant. On the other hand, the school should update the

list of companies for training, two to three months before midyear as it will allow

students to prepare the necessary paper works and funds. Moreover, the school should

broaden their connections with more agencies to cater the internship for the students.
