PerfectionPeptide P3

Biomimetic peeling for skin rejuvenation

Desquamation Deteriorates with Age

Young skin Old skin

With age, the desquamation process becomes slow and irregular:

• The skin barrier is weakened (more permeable, water loss occurs)
• Activity of proteases is reduced
• Turnover time of the epidermis starts increasing from the age of 30
 dry, rough and dull skin

Desquamation

Transit time Desquamation:

1000 cells/cm2/h
~5 x108 cells/day
~14 days
Thickness of the stratum corneum:
15 – 20 cell layers

~14 days

Desquamation is Mediated by
Corneodesmosomes

• Corneocytes are interconnected by

corneodesmosomes.
• The connection is mainly assured by
desmoglein and desmocollin, two
proteins which constitute
corneodesmosomes.

Desmocollin and Desmoglein Form Cell-Cell
Adhesion

• Desmoglein and desmocollin have

a complementary structure.
• They bind together to form bridges
between adjacent corneocytes like a
"key and lock".
• In the outermost parts of the stratum
corneum, these bridges are
degraded by specific proteases,
corneocytes shed invisibly at the skin
surface.

Benefits of PerfectionPeptide P3

• Speeds up epidermal renewal

• Skin is smoothed and radiant
• Does not increase the photosensitivity of the skin  gentle alternative to
chemical / acid peeling
• PerfectionPeptide P3 neutralizes the upregulation of the desmocollin and
desmoglein genes
