7.1 SCOPE
This standard is applacable to dired-ci.tn6nt machines tosted with direct-6ur6nt power and lo polyphase
allemalang-onrenl madrings lested with sinusoidal p()w6r, in fr6me siz6s 42 and lsrger and at laled
pov{er up to 1 0O,0O0 HP or 75 MW at norhinal speeds up to and induding 3600 €v/min.
For venic8l and llangofiounting machanes, this standard is only applicable to thos€ machinos lhai 6re
tost6d in lhe antended orientation.
This standard is not applicable to single-boairE macllinos, machines mount6d in situ, singto-phas€
mact nes, three-phas€ machines op€rated on singlerhase systems, voiicalwal6r pows gsnorators,
peamanent magnet genoralors or to macltnos @upled to primo movers or driven loads_

Diroct cunont machines shall be supplasd wilh the armaluro voltago and fi6ld clarenl conesponctang lo the
speed at whictr vabration is being measured. Vibration limits ar6 based upon lhs us€ ot low ripplo power
supply A (see 1 2.66.2. 1 ) lyp€ pow6r sources. Other types of power supplios may be used for testing
purpos€s et lhe discfelion of the manufactur€r.

invorier-fod machines, it shall bo acceptable to measuro the vibGtion at only the speed conosponding to
a 60 Hz power supply.
