The Legend of Banyuwangi
Orientation :
Legend has it that in ancient times, the easternmost region of Java Island, with its beautiful
natural surroundings, was ruled by a king named Prabu Sulahkromo. In governing his realm, he
was assisted by a courageous, wise, and handsome Prime Minister named Patih Sidopekso.
Patih Sidopekso's wife, named Sri Tanjung, possessed exquisite beauty and graceful manners,
which captivated the King's heart.

Complication :

To fulfill the King's desire to woo and win over Sri Tanjung, he resorted to cunning tactics by
commanding Patih Sidopekso to undertake tasks that seemed impossible for an ordinary
human. Without suspicion, Patih Sidopekso bravely carried out the King's orders. In Patih
Sidopekso's absence, Prabu Sulahkromo engaged in inappropriate behavior, using deceit and
slander to try and win over Sri Tanjung. However, the King's love remained unrequited, as Sri
Tanjung remained steadfast, praying for her husband. The King grew angry and furious when
his love was spurned by Sri Tanjung.

Upon Patih Sidopekso's return from his mission, he immediately faced the King. The King's
wicked scheme unfolded as he falsely accused Patih Sidopekso, claiming that after Patih's
departure from the palace, Sri Tanjung had approached him, attempting to seduce him.

Climax :

Without hesitation, Patih Sidopekso confronted Sri Tanjung with baseless anger and
accusations.

Sri Tanjung's innocent and honest confession further fueled Patih Sidopekso's rage. Despite
struggling to contain his anger, Patih Sidopekso threatened to kill his faithful wife. He dragged
Sri Tanjung to the edge of a murky and dirty river. But before Patih Sidopekso could end her life,
Sri Tanjung made one final request to her husband: as proof of her honesty, purity, and loyalty,
she agreed to be killed and have her body thrown into the murky river. If her blood tainted the
river with a foul odor, it would indicate her guilt; if the river emitted a pleasant fragrance, she
would be proven innocent.

Resolution :
Unable to restrain himself any longer, Patih Sidopekso plunged his dagger into Sri Tanjung's
chest. Her blood spattered, and she died instantly. Her body was thrown into the river, which
gradually cleared and the muddy river gradually became clear as glass and spread out a sweet
smell, a sweet smell. Patih Sidopekso staggered, fell and he became dazed, without realizing it,

"Banyu..... ... Wangii............... . Banyu.... wangiii... .." Banyuwangi was born from proof of a
wife's love for her husband.

from the story above The mandate that can be taken is:

1. Trust and loyalty are tested in the face of manipulation and suspicion.

2. The consequences of hasty actions driven by anger and deceit can be profound.

3. Love and sacrifice can transform even the darkest of circumstances into something beautiful.
