ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD)

The relay incorporates CMOS static sensitive devices, which may be damaged by static electricity discharged from
the body. When handling care should be taken to avoid contact with components and electrical connections. If the
relay is removed from its case for any period of time, it should be placed in an electrically conducting anti-static
bag. If making measurements on the internal electronic circuitry, it is preferable you are earthed to the case with a
conductive strap having a resistance to ground between 500kΩ - 10MΩ

WARNING
The use of equipment out of calibration is strictly prohibited. Prior to the
commencement of any activity on this STS, confirmation that all requiring
calibration carries a current calibration label.

NOTE: This document to be used in conjunction with Argus 4 manual

Pre-Commissioning Precautions

ALL circuit breaker closing, tripping and alarm circuits isolated. (Where practicable)

Before testing commences, the relay should be isolated from voltage transformers in line with local site procedures

SCHEDULE Revision 1

Preliminary Checks
Remove any packing material from relay and check for transit damage

Confirm the equipment corresponds to the relevant drawings

Where necessary, measure insulation resistance of all wiring

Carry out wire checks to relevant diagrams

Supply Checks

Confirm that the relay supply voltage and polarity is correct

Confirm that the relay auxiliary voltage and polarity is correct

Watchdog Contacts
Confirm that with the relay de-energised, contacts 11 & 12 are closed, 13 & 14 open

Confirm that with the relay energised, contacts 11 & 12 are open, 13 & 14 closed

Date & Time Settings

With an IRIG-B Signal

With IRIG-B signal active, adjust the time offset of the universal co-ordinated time (satellite
clock time) on the satellite clock equipment so that local time is displayed and the correct
year has been manually set

Remove the IRIG-B signal and auxiliary supply from the relay. Leave de-energised for
approximately 30 seconds. Re-energise, re-connect IRIG-B signal and confirm date & time
correct

Without an IRIG-B Signal

Confirm the cell {0804: DATE and TIME, IRGI-B Sync} is set to ‘Disabled’

Set the date and time using cell {0801:DATE and TIME, Date/Time}

Remove the auxiliary supply from the relay. Leave de-energised for approximately 30
seconds. Re-energise and confirm date & time correct

Check the pick up value of each frequency elements.

Vary the applied frequency for each of the frequency elements in use and record the pick up values in the table
below. (The RED starter LED will give indication of the elements picking up and dropping off.)
Also record the operating time for the element, to check the time delay has been set correctly
