WARNING
The use of equipment out of calibration is strictly prohibited. Prior to the
commencement of any activity on this STS, confirmation that all requiring
calibration carries a current calibration label.
Pre-Commissioning Precautions
ALL circuit breaker closing, tripping and alarm circuits isolated. (Where practicable)
Before testing commences, the relay should be isolated from voltage transformers in line with local site procedures
Preliminary Checks
Remove any packing material from relay and check for transit damage
Supply Checks
Watchdog Contacts
Confirm that with the relay de-energised, contacts 11 & 12 are closed, 13 & 14 open
Confirm that with the relay energised, contacts 11 & 12 are open, 13 & 14 closed
With IRIG-B signal active, adjust the time offset of the universal co-ordinated time (satellite
clock time) on the satellite clock equipment so that local time is displayed and the correct
year has been manually set
Remove the IRIG-B signal and auxiliary supply from the relay. Leave de-energised for
approximately 30 seconds. Re-energise, re-connect IRIG-B signal and confirm date & time
correct
Confirm the cell {0804: DATE and TIME, IRGI-B Sync} is set to ‘Disabled’
Set the date and time using cell {0801:DATE and TIME, Date/Time}
Remove the auxiliary supply from the relay. Leave de-energised for approximately 30
seconds. Re-energise and confirm date & time correct
LED Checks
Confirm the following LED’s function correctly with the relay energised
Confirm Field Supply voltage Polarity correct. Value measured between terminals 7/9 and Vdc
8/10 (40V – 60V with no load)
OPTO INPUTS
Connect the field supply voltage to the appropriate terminals for each input in turn. Confirm correct operation of each

3 11 (P943 only)
4 12 (P943 only)
5 13 (P943 only)
6 14 (P943 only)
7 15 (P943 only)
8 16 (P943 only)
Output Relays
With the MiCOM relay in test mode, energise each output relay in turn confirming correct operation

6 13
7 14
Voltage Inputs
Apply rated voltage to each transformer input in turn and record voltage displayed on the relay
Vb (C20 – C22)
Vc (C21 – C22)
Note: The Primary value displayed should be equal to the applied voltage multiplied by the corresponding voltage
transformer ratio set in the ‘VT and CT RATIOS’ menu column.
Setting Checks
Under/Over Frequency Level Detectors
On Load Checks
Perform the On Load tests in accordance with section 6 of the Operation Guide (OG8611B)
