SA LALAWIGAN INDAK-INDAK: HUDYAKA SA KADALANAN 2023 GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS 1. The dance entry must depict the culture of the existing tribes of Maco- The Mansaka and Kagan Tribes. 2. Concept or theme for costume and performance are left to the discretion of the participants based on their own interpretation of what is relevant to Kaimonan. Emphasis must be given to the concept of gathering and unity in dance as the Mansaka word “kaimonan” suggest. 3. A synopsis must be submitted the organizer two (2) days before the event. The synopsis will be read during the entrance of the contingents and must not consume more time than the allotted for entrance. Furthermore, a costume design must be submitted for review by the technical committee. 4. Dance steps, music, costume, accessories and equipment of the dance should be in the context of the chosen theme or concept. 5. Appropriate footwear consistent with the theme/motif shall be used by all participants. Barefoot performance in the street dancing and showdown is strictly prohibited. A deduction of five (5) points in the final score will be imposed for violating this rule. 6. A part of kaimonan hymn must be used during their performance. Kaimonan steps must also be performed. 7. Canned/taped music must be used. However, yells and chants will be allowed during the performance. 8. Contingents will provide their sound system for the street dancing competition. 9. A minimum of fifty (50) and a maximum of eighty (80) dancers must perform in the street dancing and showdown. Dancing props men however should not be less than twenty (20) and not more than thirty (30) persons. 10. All hand props shall be carried by the dancers all throughout the parade route. 11. In the ritual presentation/showdown huge backdrops or risers, and the like are allowed provided that it will not affect the flow of traffic of participants and the next performers. Every single drop whether handheld or huge prop must be carried by the participants upon exit. Nothing must be left within the vicinity and periphery of the showdown entry. 12. Street Dancing highlight will be limited to 3 minutes per entry per station only, three (3) points from the final score will be deducted from entries that will reach 3:01 minutes. 13. For the street dancing, the official timer on stage shall raise the green flag as a signal for the group to prepare for the start of their presentation; and shall bring the flag down to indicate the start of their timed performance. On the 2nd minute, the timer shall raise the YELLOW flag, to signal that one minute is left and shall finish/wrap up to the performance. On the 3rd minute, the timer shall raise the RED flag to signify the end of the performance. A deduction of one (1) point overtime will be counted for every one minute of delay with the deduction of one point from the total score of the performance criterion of every judge in the area where the violation occurred. 14. Ritual will be limited to 5-8 minutes per entry only, with a maximum of 5 minutes for entrance and 5 minutes for exit. Three (3) points from the final score will be deducted from entries that will exceed the time allotted as specified (8:01 for the ritual). 15. For the Ritual/Showdown, the official timer on stage shall raise the green flag as a signal for the group to prepare for the start of their presentation; and shall bring the flag down to indicate the start of their timed performance. On the 7th minute, the timer shall raise the YELLOW flag, to signal that only one minute is left and shall finish/wrap up the performance. On the 8th minute, the timer shall raise the RED flag to signify the end of the performance. A deduction of one (1) point overtime will be counted for every one minute of delay with the deduction of one point from the total score of the performance criterion of every judge in the area where the violation occurred. 16. Time starts upon the first beat of music and/or the first movement of the dancers. Likewise, the time stops after the last beat of music and/or the last movement of the dances. 17. The use of flammable materials such as fireworks or pyrotechnics as part of the ritual is strictly prohibited. A three (3) point deduction in the final score will be imposed against any contingent who violates this provision. 18. The decision of the board of judges shall be final and none-appealable. Questions or clarifications will not be entertained after the announcement of winners. 19. The riser should not be more than 4 feet. The width of the riser will be up to the contingent’s preference. 20. Out-of-school youth can join in the competition, however, he/she should be a bonafide resident of the barangay/municipality where the school is located. 21. Each participating group can hire trainers or choreographers outside the municipality. 22. Failure to comply with the above-mentioned guidelines/mechanics, specifically on the Kaimonan theme, kaimonan hymn and kaimonan steps, and the depiction of Mansaka AND Kagan Tribe, will result in disqualification to be announced/decided by the Technical Committee.
