General English Past Continuous

I. Past Continuous Usage:

The past continuous tense, also known as the past progressive tense, is a verb tense used to
express actions or situations that were ongoing, continuous, or in progress at a specific point in
the past.

Ex: They were travelling to SiemReab on January.

I was working at 10pm last night.

II. Past Continuous Form:

1. Positive (+)

S + was/were + V (-ing)

Ex: You were reading book.


Jungkook was watching TV.

2. Negative (-)

S + was/were + not + V(-ing)


Ex: They were not painting.
He wasn’t playing football yesterday cues of rain.
