CUT TO:

2 INT. HOUSE - NIGHT (FLASHBACK) 2

PARENT
I don't know why you don't listen to
me. If you keep playing all the time
how will you do anything valuable?
PARENT
If you

3 EXT. DUGOUT - DAY 3

PLAYER comes into the shade and sits down next to MAN (39).
PLAYER is exhausted, he keeps his helmet down and drinks some
water.
MAN
You played well.
PLAYER is flustered and confused.

PLAYER
What? I could barely face a ball.
These division 1 players are too
good, I cannot compete with them.

PLAYER looks around, he thinks the conversation is over.

MAN
So, what will you do now?
PLAYER
eh?...
PLAYER thinks for a little while and answers.
PLAYER (CONT'D)
I will head back and practice more.
2.

MAN folds his hands.

MAN
Don't keep waiting for the perfect
time or place, even if it does come,
you will miss it.
PLAYER
What is that supposed to mean?
MAN
I mean...Now that you have come
here, finish the tournament and
then...
PLAYER
And then?
MAN
Then? You can decide then.
PLAYER leans back and smiles a little.
PLAYER
(mumbles)
You can decide then.
PLAYER looks at MAN and asks him.
PLAYER (CONT'D)
This is the third match, I haven't
hit big in any of them.
MAN
This match isn't over yet is it?
Relax and play the second innings
well, go with the flow and see where
it takes you.
PLAYER
I don't think I will get to play
another match, I better go play
elsewhere.

MAN
Ok, make sure you won't regret it.
PLAYER
So, what you are saying I should
finish the tournament, even if I
won't get to play.

MAN
3.

I can't make that decision, no one

can know if a decision is right or
wrong.
PLAYER is not satisfied.

MAN
You will not regret the things you
did, only the things you didn't do.

PLAYER takes in what MAN has told him and stares into the
distance.
MAN gets up and picks up his bag.

MAN
Anyway, nice talking to you.
PLAYER looks at the MAN's bag and realises that he is the
coach of the opponent team.
