Ok. Here’s an office space for lease in Makaha’s strip mall.

Look’s like you can go to their site and inquire on this one, or see what else they may have available.
Here’s a wide angle shot. The place on the left is a vacant market. . .sort of an indoor flea market now empty.

Here’s a right angle and that’s the office space for lease there on the right.
Makaha Chop Suey two doors down.

This shot toward the sea (makai) was taken from the door step of that office for lease.
Just right across the street from the beach. There’s the Makaha 7-11 to the left of this picture and across the
street.
Makaha is slow and quiet.
Paradise Isle is the cornerstone shop of the strip mall.
You can also rent kayaks and surboards here.

Aloha Makaha is the name of this store.

I went in to see if Kate was in, but she was out. Here’s some pics of the sarongs and stuff.
It’s sort of a reggae-Hawaiian store full of cool stuff.

Here’s her shop. I met Terry her husband too. The sign says open but they weren’t there.
Get used to it!
Here’s a col shot. Did you say, “Sarong??” We have planny!
The ones men wear are actually called “lawa lawa.” Prounounced “lava lava,” the difference is generally no
fringe.
Sure, I’d wear one and actually plan to. It is pretty common among the locals.
Ephraim’s been here 7 years and told us when he first got here, he said to a local guy wearing a lawa lawa:
“I like your dress!” Ephraim didn’t mean anything, but he didn’t know what they were called.
So when you see me in mine, you can say: “I like your lawa lawa Don.” Hehehe.
Actually, Tina got one in Waimanalo months ago, and I have sat around wearing it inside.
It has the fringe so. . .indoors I don’t much care. . .it was soooo hot! Not me, the weather! Jeesh!
Here’s some more. They were not there so. . .I took the shots I could.

See? It say’s “Open.”

It is Hawaii.

Another shot from outside. Paradise Island just to the right by kayaks.
Lawa lawa top left, notice no fringe for men.
A shot of Paradise Island store, and that office for lease right around the left and down three doors.
You can barely see Makaha’s one and only 7-11 across the street waaaayyy to the right.
Here’s a shot from where we parked in the strip mall lot of a portion of Makaha Beach.
It a white sandy strip just over there.
It’s like 88 degrees.
Ok. On the left is a sarong (fringed), and a lawa lawa, without fringe on the right.
Cool. I can get back to wearing psychedelic clothing. I WAS a flower child ya know!
Weren’t you?

Tina and Ephraim waiting on me. “Yah Bug!”

So we took off to get the oil pressure switch.
I figured it would be about as difficult as changing a spark plug.
Ephraim (eee-fram) has cerebral palsy and no use of his legs.
His car is equipped with hand controls.
Pretty cool!
So I kicked back just snapping away.
There’s Pu`u O Ma`ili up a head. . .that hill on the left. . .is where Tina and are moving from.
There’s one of two Wai`anae 7-11’s on the left.
All this time we are on Farrington highway. It is the only way in and out of the Leeward Coast.
Hmmm. . .you got me. . .I just got snap-happy.

“Aloha, Tina!”
I was just hangin’ in da beack seat. We just picked up the pressure unit for Ephraim’s van.
Just a shot of Waia`anae backdrop.

This is one of Wai`anae’s two 7-11’s.

Tina and I get our Arizona Iced Teas’s with honey and ginsing here.
Hawaiian 7-11’s also sell some local favorites, like musubi. . .that’s a steamed rice cake with a slab of Spam
wrapped in seaweed. . .a local snack. I have mine now and then. . .sort of a Hawaiian candy bar. . .but no sugar.
Seaweed is what the Okinawans say attributes to their longevity. I believe it too. I studied this seaweed thing.

Oh, here’s the Wai`anae laundry mat. Pretty cool because it’s open-aired and plays Hawaiian music.
Believe me, if you do laundry here you are bound to hear Hawaiians speak true Hawaiian.
Hearing the Hawaiian language is like none other and is music to the ear.
Ou Wai`anae Mc D’s. . .yes, there is a dollar menu.
Again, our McDonald’s has local food on the menu.
Rice and eggs with Portugese sausage, for one.
It’s like that here. Or, if they have it. . .taro pie. Mmmmm!
“Ok, uhm. . .Ephraim? Actually the oil-pressure sending unit is up here brah!”
You can see his “sticks” laying next to him. He cannot walk without them.
I had my bandana with me because I wear it to my workout.
I was tired, but never too tired to help I think.
He had to get this done by 5pm or get it towed by the manager. . .so.
We are at Makaha Surfside apartments and condos. Ephraim is selling his condo in “B” building, and Tina and
I are moving into “C” building. He and his wife, Holly, have lived here for 7 years.
Here’s a shot of my afternoon coffee. . .can you find it?
So Tina’s taking pics I guess.
Ephraim also lacks strength in his hands so I did the job for him.
But hey, he’s one of the most willing people I have ever met so. . .

Ok. Professor Don is holding the good switch and the bad switch.
The black wrist band I’m wearing is a Hawaiian thing.
Actually, the come in a variety of colors and say various things, like “Live Strong.”
Mine say’s “Raiders.” It’s a football thing.
The more rubber bracelts you own, the more local you are it seems.
You can wear several at once, and at festivals and stuff win prizes for whoever is wearing the most.
Ephraim wanted to take a look down there.
He’s sooooo well-humored! He laughs a lot!
He glows with the Spirit!
Another shot of gardens around our new building.
I’ll take more after we move in, but I thought I’d get some for you now.
The gardens are awesome and so very well kept.

I dig plants, churches, palm trees, buildings, and tug boats.

There’s Ephraim’s unit up on the right top. Want a papaya??
Looks like someone got the riper ones. No worries, they are everywhere!

Here’s a shot of one of the pool areas. This one of two pools is close for two days.
They keep them up so well they drain them now and then they said to refresh them
Our new place is to the far left on the bottom but cannot be seen from here.
To the bottom and to the right is the saunas and gym.
As huge as this place is, people are rare to find and it is a constant quiet.
I will be sending planny pictures.

This is from Ephraim’s balcony a down below.

Gardens everywhere!
Very Hawaiian.
Excellently kept.

Oh yeh!
Shoooooot!
“Happy,” Holly and Ephraim’s dog. She’s a sweet pup.

Their cat. I forgot this BIG boys name, but he’s old and very laid back. . .and talkative.
In Ephraim’s gardens area.
I am certain there may be some meaning to these garden themes.
I’ll look into them.
Is this like cool?
Yeh, I think I’ll dig living here. Much more private for us as well.
Quiet, private, and ON da beach!
I’ll get some beach shots later.
I was intrigued by all these gardens around the property.
Awesome.

Well, that’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed.

It’s 8:30pm Hawaiian time, so. . .I’m pau!

Hope you enjoyed the shots.

I got all 9 things on my list done.
It was a wothwhile day, again!

And if I open my eyes in the morning, I’ll do it again, and again!

Good night, or good morning.
