The purpose of the functional test is to verify that the installation and basic
configuration of a site has been done properly.
Perform the tests applicable to the configuration and record the result in the test
record, see Template for MINI-LINK Functional Test Record.
2 Safety Information
Make sure that the information in the following documents has been understood
by the persons performing the procedures:
• Personal Health and Safety Information, Reference [1]
• System Safety Information, Reference [3]
• Supplementary Safety Information for MINI-LINK, Reference [2]
3 Preparations
• Complete the SID with information, serial number, hardware revision, and
software revision for the equipment installed.
• Read through all applicable sections and make sure referenced documents
are available.
• Make sure you have access to the Network Element (NE) using Command
Line Interface (CLI). For more information, see Accessing a Network
Element.
• Make sure that the test results are recorded. For this purpose, see
Template for MINI-LINK Functional Test Record. Download the template
on your PC or print the template before going on site, and fill it in with the
test results.
1. Measure the primary DC voltage in the power cable using a digital voltmeter.
Purpose: To verify that the correct parameters are used, to document and
verify that the output power corresponds to the planned value, and to verify that
the RF input level corresponds to the planned value in the SID.
2. Check that the radio link configuration parameters are set according to
the SID.
For more information on how to check the configuration including the radio link
parameters, see CLI Descriptions. The basic radio link parameters are also
shown in the Node GUI.
Purpose: To verify that the RF input level matches the planned value in the
SID.
6. Compare the RF input level with the planned level in the SID. Consult the
design department if the difference is more than ±5 dB during unfaded
conditions.
Purpose: To verify that there are no interfering signals, which can degrade
the performance.
• Access the far-end and the near-end terminals using a terminal window and
switch off the transmitters.
• Find the received RF input level at the planned operating frequency and
record the value on the Functional Test record.
For more information on how to list active alarms for the near-end, see
Managing Alarms and Events.
Use the ping command to verify the DCN or another Ethernet connection on the
network, for example, any equipment connected on the far side of the hop.
This example script pings the host with the IP address 10.128.60.2:
end; config ip ping 10.128.60.2
Purpose: To verify the maximum rate at which frames can be transmitted from
the source to the destination with zero lost frames or errors.
Note: If this test is done on a live network, the required test traffic interferes
with customer traffic and can result in disrupted service and erroneous
test results.
3. Perform the throughput test for each frame size and document the test
results in the test record.
12 Concluding Routines
Caution!
2. Verify time and date settings after the NE has performed the cold restart:
end; show config common time
