CASE STUDY INSTRUCTIONS

This case is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your analytic and written communication skills. You
will have 2 hours to write your report. The report must be written in paragraph form and should be about
1500 words in length (3 pages single-spaced). Our experience suggests that if you write much less than
1500 words, you will likely not have done a thorough analysis of the case.

Expectations

• Assume the role of a consultant in defining the core objectives of the company and analyzing
external and internal risks the company faces relative to these objectives.
• Provide recommendations to the senior management team that are supported by your risk
analysis. These recommendations should be reasonable for the company based on its current
situation, the management team, and the business environment. Please assume that, as a
consultant, you are free to recommend changes to the company’s objectives, strategy, operating
processes or personnel.
• Use the information in the case to provide specific recommendations to the company’s
management team.
• Note that we are not expecting “right” answers, the evaluation is focused on the quality of your
analysis and your ability to effectively communicate your findings.

How your case will be assessed

We rely on experienced professors to evaluate your report. They will be looking for you to provide a
comprehensive assessment that covers most of the risks facing the company. They will also carefully
assess whether your recommendations are supported by your analysis. In addition, the professors will
assess your ability to express yourself clearly and concisely.
