BITES / STINGS MANAGEMENT"

SNAKE BITE:

Snake bite is one of the common emergency in villages and remote areas,

When a person is bitten by a snack, first of all assure the patient that the snake bitten you is not a
poisonous, because 90% of the snakes are non poisonous. Death occur quickly in Cobra bites Local
features of poisoning are pain, swelling and necrosis.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF SNAKE BITE: Common signs & symptoms of snake bite are as under:

Severe pain at site of bite.

Drowsiness.

Difficulty in opening the eyes.

Difficulty in opening the mouth.

Difficulty in swallowing.

FIRST AID MANAGEMENT OF SNAKE BITE:

The first aid management of snake bite is described below:

Applying Ligation

Apply immediately ligation 5cmto the proximal area at the site of bite to avoid the circulation of poison.

The ligation should not be so much tight to arrest blood supply to relevant distal parts.

Cleaning:

Clean the wound by anti septic agent or soap.

Sucking:

Suck the bitten place after giving an incision with a clean and sterile blade to suck the poison present
locally, but those people who have gastric ulcer or oral ulcer should not suck the wound.

Apply ice:

When snake bite on face apply ice to the areas near to the wound because by cooling that area,
circulation can be decreased and eventually flow of poison to the body can be decreased.
Hospital Treatment:-

In hospital inject anti venome serum to patient.

BEE STINGS

The stings of bees are very painful and some people Who are sensitive to these stings can develop a
severe anaphylactic reaction.

Signs AND Symptom’s OF BEE STINGS The signs and symptoms of bee stings are as under:

Burning at the site of sting.

Redness at the site of sting.

Itching at the site of sting.

Pain at the site of sting.

Chest constriction.

Abdominal pain

Nausea.

Vomiting.

FHIRST AID MANAGENIENT OF BEE STING

The first aid management of bee stings is described below:

The sting mostly remains in skin & should be removed immediatelyusing a tweezers so that the spread of
venom is minimized.

The affected skin should be washed with soap and water.

Anti histaminic drugs & aspirin are useful to relieve itching & pain.

Intravenous fluid may be given if required.
