Course Outline Hematology 2
Course Outline Hematology 2
Course Description:
The course deals with the study of the fundamentals, pathophysiology and the mechanism
of coagulation and hemostasis, with emphasis on laboratory diagnostic procedures
Course Outcomes:
1. explain the concepts and principles of primary hemostasis, coagulation and fibrinolysis;
2. demonstrate manual dexterity in the performance of laboratory procedures in evaluating
defects in primary hemostasis, coagulation and fibrinolysis;
3. compare the different tests in primary hemostasis, coagulation and fibrinolysis, as well
as their significance in clinical evaluation;
4. differentiate the pathophysiology of various hematologic and bleeding disorders;
5. evaluate traditional and advanced techniques, and their value, in diagnosis of
hematologic and bleeding disorders; and
6. appreciate the evolution of tests, from traditional to advanced, in the diagnosis of
hematologic and bleeding malignancies.
