Monthly Assembly Topic
III. OBJECTIVES:
Last assembly, we talked about choosing to be good by making the right decisions. In
the Lenten Journey Take-Home Assignment, what did you choose to do? Who chose
Fasting? Who chose Praying? Or almsgiving? (Let them respond) Can someone share
about their experience in doing the Lenten Journey? (Ask a volunteer). Let us always
remember that in whatever situations we will be facing, we should always choose to
be good.
This month, we will be talking about obedience. For our proclamation statement, we
say “I AM A BELOVED CHILD OF GOD!”
The Resurrection
But at daybreak on the first day of the week, they took the spices they had prepared and
went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb; but when they
entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were puzzling over this,
behold, two men in dazzling garments appeared to them. They were terrified and bowed
their faces to the ground. They said to them, “Why do you seek the living one among the
dead? He is not here, but he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he
was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified,
and rise on the third day.” And they remembered his words. Then they returned from
the tomb and announced all these things to the eleven and to all the others. The women
were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James; the others who
accompanied them also told this to the apostles, but their story seemed like nonsense
and they did not believe them. But Peter got up and ran to the tomb, bent down, and
saw the burial cloths alone; then he went home amazed at what had happened.
STORYLINE
(NOTE: The Speaker can use the storyline to explain the Gospel to the kids better. Be
creative! It may be delivered interactively through photos or role-playing.)
One early Sunday morning, the women from Galilee - Mary Magdalene, Joanna,
and Mary the mother of James, went to the tomb where Jesus was laid.
As they were near the place, they found that the stone that covers the tomb was
rolled away.
So they immediately entered the tomb and found that the body of Jesus was not
there.
As they were thinking what could have possibly happened, two men in shining
clothes appeared before them. They looked like angels because they were so
bright.
The women were scared and fell to the ground. But the two men told them, “Why
are you looking among the dead for one who is alive? He is not here; he has been
raised. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must
be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and three days later rise to life.’’
Then they remembered what Jesus told them and returned to the eleven apostles
and told them everything that had happened.
However, the apostles didn’t believe them. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb
and when he looked inside he saw the linen cloths. He went back home amazed
at what had happened.
VII. JUNIOR KIDS ACTIVITY: A PIECE OF LOVE
Materials:
(Materials for this activity must be sent ahead of time. Parents will then print the picture
puzzle, paste it in a used folder, envelope, or any thick paper, and cut the puzzle pieces.)
Instructions:
2. Distribute all the puzzle pieces to each family member equally. They will then
have to solve the puzzle within One (1) minute.
3. The first family to solve the puzzle and describe what the picture wins!
VIII. PEP TALK
1. What can you see in the picture puzzle? (Let them respond.) Yes, it is the empty tomb.
2. The empty tomb reminds us of the women who received a message from the angels
that Jesus is alive.
4. Like the women in our Gospel, we too must share a very important message –
that God loves us very much. We can share this with other people by sharing the
many gifts we have received from God to our family and friends, to our classmates
, and other people.
5. Now, can you say this with me? “I am a beloved child of God!” That’s right! God
loves us all so much and we are to share this love with other people. Are you ready?
• She always gives her things away and shares food and clothes
with the people in need because of her love for God and other people.
