I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate understanding of...
A. Content Standards
some important properties of solutions
The learners should be able to...
B. Performance Standards  prepare different concentrations of mixtures according to uses and
availability of materials
C. At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to…..

 Investigate properties of unsaturated or saturated solutions;

Learning Competencies / Objectives Objectives:
  Write the LC code for each
1. Define unsaturated and saturated solutions;
2. Determine how much solid solute dissolves in each volume of
water, and;
3. Describe the appearance of a saturated solution;

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Before we start make sure to have your pen and paper. Now, let’s have
Elicit a short recap.
What is a solution? Mixture? Solute? Solvent?
Students are grouped into 3 (juice coffee and soda). The group will
have cardboard and chalk to write their answers once a question is
flashed on the screen.

Activity: FOUR PICS ONE WORD

B. Engage
The teacher is going to show a puzzle and the student will guess the
word for the picture. The group that gets the most answers will be the
winner.

After the game, the teacher will introduce the topic and the objective for

C. The teacher introduce the solutions, teacher asks: “Imagine? What will
you feel? How will you look like? Teacher refines student responses as
they continue to share what they know about the topic.

Discussion of the topic.

Definition of terms

Now, since you have gained knowledge or idea about what is a

solution, let’s have an activity entitled: EXPERIMENT TIME!. The
teacher will distributes marker and manila paper to each group and
assign task for each group.

Materials Needed:
 6 teaspoons of sugar/salt/powdered juice/coffee
 Water
 4 measuring spoon (1/2 teaspoon capacity)
Explore
   8 beakers/plastic cups
 8 Stirrer/spoon

Group 1: sugar and water

Group 2: salt and water
Group 3: powdered juice and water
Group 4: coffee and water
D. The teacher leads short discussion and engages in questioning:
Guide questions:
1. What is the appearance of the solutions?
Answer: the solutions appear uniform throughout. This is
homogeneous.
2. How many teaspoons of sugar have you added until the sugar
no longer dissolves?
Explain
Answer: five and a half teaspoons of sugar/salt/powdered
juice/coffee were added when there was excess undissolved
sugar observed remaining in the container.
3. How many teaspoons of sugar dissolved completely in 20 mL
of water?
Answer: five teaspoons of sugar is the maximum amount that
can dissolve in 20 mL of water.
E.
Elaborate Sum-up

Answer the following questions:
1. You are given a 40 ml solution in a beaker. You add solute to
F. the beaker and you observed some particles did not dissolve.
EVALUATE
What type of solution is it?
