The effects of pollution in my country

With the development of economy, the impacts on environment has been talked
increasingly in public, such as air pollution, stinky river. But what the most important
impacts on environment? In my opinion, there are three impacts we have to pay
more attention, which are environmental pollution, natural habitats destruction,
biological diversity .

Firstly, we usually have heard or have experienced environmental pollution event,

like air pollution, underwater pollution, soil pollution. Especially, in the latest ten
years, I have read some environmental pollution events in news or in social medias,
such as oil spilling into the ocean in Dalian in 2010, 5000 tons of toxic chromium
substance polluting river in Yunnan in 2011. Basically, everything we and species live
on come from the environment, if the pollution goes worse, we will be punished in a
short time undoubtedly.

Secondly, with the almost 30 years development of industry and urbanization, we

destroy hundreds of millions of acre of nature habitats by building roads, factories,
dams, bridges, in where a large number of species live. The most important example
of this is the establishment of Three Gorges Dam. The Dam fundamentally changed
the environment upstream and downstream as well as along the banks by rising the
water level, changing hydrological characteristics, destroying the habitats of aquatic
organisms. As a result, hundreds of thousands of rare plants and animals died.
Natural habitats destruction which was cause by human activities directly leads to
the death of lots of species.

Lastly, pollution threatens the biological diversity, which includes three levels-
genetic diversity, species diversity and ecosystem diversity. Over trillions of years of
evolution, there are various environment on earth, which triggering the evolution of
species and resulting in the various species. If the diversity become worse and worse,
one day, there won’t be enough gene to maintain the ecosystem stably. If that
happen, almost of all species will end up with extinction.

As we all know, all species share the earth, we live together and be in favor of each
other, we have to pay more attention without further ado, for the various and
beautiful world and ourselves.
