Amendments: The first ten amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of

Rights, were added in 1791. These amendments protect individual rights and
liberties, such as freedom of speech, religion, and the right to bear arms. Over
the years, additional amendments have been added to address various issues,
including voting rights, prohibition, and presidential term limits. As of my
knowledge cutoff date in September 2021, there are 27 ratified amendments to the
U.S. Constitution.

The U.S. Constitution is a foundational document that has played a central role in
shaping the American system of government and the rights of its citizens. It has
been interpreted and expanded upon through the centuries by the judicial branch,
particularly the U.S. Supreme Court, through landmark decisions that have had a
profound impact on American society and jurisprudence.
