14 April 2021 - The DOST National Capital Region (DOST-NCR), through the
DOST's Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH)
Program, held the "TeknoLokal para sa Makabagong Bayani" webinar aimed at
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are interested or currently engaged with
startups and would like to know more about doing business.

In line with this, Ms. Maria Irene S. Amatorio, Senior Science Research Specialist of
the DOST-ASTI's Technology Licensing Office (TLO) showcased the technology
transfer, collaboration, and business opportunities in the DOST-ASTI during the
event. Available services of the institute such as the Computing and Archiving
Research Environment (COARE) Facility, the Electronic Product Development Center
(EPDC), and ASTI Developed Weather Stations, were highlighted during the event.

Other topics discussed by Ms. Amatorio during the event include ASTI's process in
technology licensing, licensing terms, and licensing requirements should the guests
be interested to adopt said ASTI Technologies. Ms. Amatorio, together
with Ms. Hannah Villasin and Ms. Jocel Hernandez of the ASTI TLO Team,
addressed inquiries from the guests regarding the adoption of these services.

The TLO Office will once again be presenting these DOST-ASTI technologies for
possible adoption of OFW beneficiaries in the next leg of the TeknoLokal series to be
conducted by DOST X on April 28, 2021 (9:00 AM – 12:00 NN) via Zoom.
 The "TeknoLokal para sa Makabagong Bayani" webinar is part of
the iFWD PH's TeknoLokal series which hopes to bridge the DOST’s technology
promotion efforts and the objective of the iFWD PH Program. The event aims to
share technologies that the participants can use or adopt for their desired
businesses.

iFWD PH is an initiative by the Department of Science and Technology to help provide

opportunities for the OFWs and their families to establish technology-based
enterprises. The project has two phases: 1) Capacity Building, and 2) Innovation
Funding for the establishment of an enterprise.
