PROBLEM #2

 In a pumping system handling water, the level in the suction tank 4.05m below the pump shaft
centerline and the level in the discharge tank 24m above the pump centerline. The inlet piping is
7.62cm in diameter and together with its values and fittings is equivalent to 27m of straight steel
pipe. The discharge line is 6.35cm in diameter, with its values and fittings is equivalent to 74m of
straight steel pipe. If the motor delivers 8.10KW to the pump shaft.
 What is the pump efficiency for a discharge rate of 12.6 lps? Assume that the friction factor for a
steel pipe is 0.024.
