BIBLE LEGEND

Name: Jeremiah the Prophet

Fullname: Jeremiah
Title: Prophet
Parents: Hilkiah
Born: probably after 650 bce, Anathoth, Judah
Died: 570 bce, Egypt
Two books of the Bible are believed to be
written by the prophet Jeremiah: the book of
Jeremiah and Lamentations. Named the “weeping
prophet,” Jeremiah writes full expression of his
emotions at the difficulties and struggles of the world. At some points in his
writings, he scolds the people of Judah for their idolatry and child sacrifices, while
at other points, he shared his love for the people of Judah and prayed for them,
even when God said to not pray.
In addition to proclaiming many prophecies, the Book of Jeremiah goes into
detail regarding the prophet’s private life, his experiences, and his imprisonment.

REFLECTION:

I chose Jeremiah for the reason that he will preach a word to all those in
power and authority, showing them their shortcomings and bringing God’s call for
justice. God’s word will pull injustice down and, in the same instant, plant the
seeds for reconciliation, love, and hope. By the end of Jeremiah’s life, his messages
of doom were matched by his messages of hope. In summary, Jeremiah’s example
struck my heart and he is a big example to me. He is the proof that anyone who
make righteousness, believes in God and preach his word will be written in the
book of salvation.
